4th Grade Celebrates Pi Day!
Happy #PiDay! Students in Mr. Moyer's 4th Grade class took turns talking about their favorite types of pie and then learned the mathematical definition of Pi. Throughout the day on March 14, students in all grades are participating in fun math activities, eating circular foods, and learning how STEM subjects apply to everyday life.

So what is this intriguing piece of Girard history? One of our fantastic summer interns can explain. Hello! My name is Halle Howard and I am an intern working in the historical collections this summer. The bulk of my project involves working with late 19th/early 20th-century scientific equipment from the High School, and I’ve found some super interesting artifacts in my time here! One is this wave machine, a tool developed in the mid-19th century to demonstrate the movement of sound waves. This model, and others like it, were a means to show the motion of waves that are too rapid for us to see directly. Later, even more models were created to display all the different kinds of waves that are now central to our understanding of physics. #gchistory #fbf
