City Kitties Rescue

City Kitties is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, no-kill, volunteer-run rescue dedicated to helping stray cats in Philadelphia.

The organization is a no-kill rescue, meaning that we will never euthanize an adoptable or treatable animal. We do not euthanize animals to make space in our foster homes, and we do not euthanize animals for medical problems unless deemed humane and necessary by a veterinarian. We provide high-quality veterinary care to our foster cats and kittens and will never turn away a homeless animal due to

Meet Milo! This handsome boy is apart of a stray colony that a wonderful couple takes care of. Last week, he showed up in the rain suddenly unable to use his hind legs. Our wonderful friends at City Cat Vets have taken him into their care. Because of his acute paralysis, Milo is currently incontinent and needs to have his bladder expressed multiple times a day. He was quite obviously in a great deal of pain and discomfort when he was brought into City Cat Vets but despite that, he is the sweetest boy. He loves to make muffins and get all of the love and attention he can get. We really want to help this boy see a neurologist. He has an appointment scheduled at Philadelphia Animal Specialty & Emergency - PASE on Tuesday for an exam and probable MRI. Please consider sharing and donating to help cover the costs of the MRI.

Beautiful Luna is still with us in foster care. She’s around 3 years old, spayed, and up to date on all her shots. As you can see, she loves to snuggle, purrs like crazy, and makes more different sounds than I’ve ever heard a cat make. She had a sister in the past who she got along with, but we don’t know how she does with dogs.
If you can picture Luna curled up on or next to you, please fill out an adoption application at
www.citykitties.org

Update: Luna was adopted today and went to live with her two new humans and two cat siblings. Good luck, Luna!

Sweet Luna was returned to us after her adopter could no longer care for her. An exam at City Cat Vets found blood in her urine, which has since been remedied. She’s now back with us in foster care and looking for a new forever home.

Luna is 2-3 years old, spayed, and healthy. As you can see, she craves attention and purrs like crazy. She had a kitty sister in her old home, and she’s getting used to our rather large crew. If you think Luna would like to snuggle next to you, please fill out an adoption application at
www.citykitties.org

Meet Popeye, Olive, and Bluto! These gorgeous little kitties are approximately 12 weeks old and were just spayed/neutered. They’re playful, super affectionate, and love other cats. They’re looking for their forever homes and would love for you to apply at www.citykitties.org.

Human kindness is at the very core of our mission here at City Kitties, and it is what allows us to pursue our passion - rescuing cats and finding them loving homes. It’s how handsome Milo is able to enjoy the comfort and safety of being indoors. So, in this strangest of years, if you’re able to help us continue to do our thing on this , please consider making a donation. It may seem cliché, but literally every dollar helps. Also, Milo is still available to brighten your day for years to come! Apply to adopt or donate @ www.citykitties.org 😻 Thank you!

Theodore update, from his foster parents:

Theodore is night and day a different cat since he had his dentistry work done! We thought it was just the meds the first couple of days, but he's been meds free since Thursday of last week and he is completely changed! He went from being a very independent, not super cuddly cat to being a lap cat overnight. Loves to cuddle up and purr, preferably on the closest chest he can find. He does little jump-ups for head pets as you pass by, or deep rollovers for belly rubs! He is incredibly happy and incredibly grateful to be rid of the bad teeth that were hurting him, and we are enjoying getting to know this side of his personality so much! He's playing more with the other cats too, and he doesn't growl or hiss constantly when they play anymore. He rarely uses claws when he plays with us now, only when we get him really excited.

So, thank you to you and City Kitties for covering his surgery, we all are so grateful.

Cuddly Theodore is still available for adoption at www.citykitties.org Apply today!

Handsome, silly Milo was rescued off the streets of North Philly. He’s estimated to be between 1-2 years old, but he sure acts like he’s closer to 1. He’s playful, sweet, and his coordination is still catching up to his big boy body. He’s great with other cats, and he really gets a kick out of smacking his foster siblings on the butt as they walk past. Think Milo would be a good fit in your home? Apply to adopt at www.citykitties.org

Doesn’t everyone need a distinguished gentleman named Theodore in their life? According to his rescuers, Theodore is a quirky, gentle giant with a gorgeous shiny coat and a personality to match! Bright eyed, curious and intelligent--he doesn’t miss a thing. He loves long naps, interspersed with high
energy playtime. He’s great with both older cats and kittens. He likes to hang out close by, but is not a big cuddler. Theodore craves catnip and brushing. When he’s very relaxed, he sleeps on his back, legs splayed out in all directions, begging for belly rubs from a passerby. Theo is also meticulous about litterbox usage and has been given a clean bill of health from City Cat Vets. He’s estimated to be around 7 years old.

If you think handsome Theodore is for you, apply to adopt him at www.citykitties.org

Lovely Cleopatra was rescued from an unsafe situation, along with her three kittens (who have been adopted together!). She had her big kid surgery yesterday and she’s doing great. She’s perfectly healthy, young, and is ready to give a lucky human or humans years of love. Is Cleo who you’ve been looking for? If so, you can apply to adopt her at www.citykitties.org

UPDATE: Cleo has been adopted and is now living with her lookalike brother. New mom says she’s doing great. Way to go, Cleo!

Thanks to a generous grant from the Burket-Plack Foundation, City Kitties (with the assistance of City Cat Vets) will be able to help pet owners who have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. This fund is meant to help manage community cats, as well as offset life-saving medical care costs for owned cats whose owners are struggling financially due to the pandemic. City Kitties has very limited foster space available, so we are shifting our focus to help cats to remain healthy IN their homes and to prevent a stray cat population explosion.

Please contact: [email protected]
Note: this does not include routine wellness care at this time (exams and vaccines)

Luna Update: she is thriving in her new home and is so happy. Here she is wrestling with her new sister.

Photos from City Kitties Rescue's post 02/21/2020

2020 has been quite a year for Luna. Just a few weeks ago, she was a cold and hungry kitten on the street. Today she is in her forever home, with two feline siblings to chase, and humans to dote on her. Way to go, Luna!

Photos from City Kitties Rescue's post 01/28/2020

Lovely Luna was rescued just before the winter storm a couple weekends ago. As you can see, she much prefers to be indoors, and the window perch has become her favorite spot in the house. She’s learning her place in the pecking order among the other cats and is never aggressive. She loves to purr and has a lot to say. She’s gotten a clean bill of health and will be spayed next week. Soon after, she could be yours! If Luna and her little black toe beans are a fit for you, apply to adopt her at www.citykitties.org
