~Tech Tip Of The Week~ Don’t replace a part because you think it’s bad. 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum came in with a battery and check charging system warning on, customer was about to replace the alternator. Thank goodness he came to us so we can properly diagnose/test the problem. In the first photo, you’ll see us checking voltage at the PCM aka the computer, second photo shows us checking the voltage at the alternator, third shows two big differences in voltage (that’s what we call a big voltage drop), fourth is a corroded wire that we found in the engine harness, fifth is a confirmed fix and no more warning lights.

No alternator for this vehicle and one happy customer!
