We are excited to announce our first-ever block swap event to celebrate Halloween!

Inspired by all the cool swaps happening over on IG, we wanted to share this wonderful collaborative experience with our friends, customers and supporters. The quilting world is made up of so many special people with a diverse range of talent, and we love exploring fun, new ways to help you and our communities continue thriving!

Using the beginner-friendly X Plus pattern from The Scissortail Quilting Company, quilters will create as many sets of six Halloween-themed blocks as desired and turn them in for the Modern Quilting team to swap with different sets from other quilters. Once the swaps are complete, you will receive your new blocks with plenty of time to create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind quilt!

This is a great opportunity to connect with quilters across the country, share your beautiful work and creative visions with new people and create a truly unique quilt that is already full of stories.

We have some beautiful patchwork-heavy classes in August! The first is pinweaving scraps with Lori on Saturday, August 3 from 10:30am – 3:30pm. Come have fun with color, make new friends and start a new passion!

In this workshop, Lori will lead you by creating your own pinnable project board, then you'll use that to learn how to weave your scraps into a unique, one of a kind fabric to make a scarf, table runner/place mat or even as a piece to cut up for applique or insert use! YOU are the artist and you get to choose your colors! You also get to use decorative yarns and threads to weave into your creation.

This fat quarter and scrap-friendly class is also beginner-friendly, but please be familiar and comfortable with your machine.

Today was the first day of The Barb Spitalny Quilting Summer Camp with The Night Owls, and we are already having so much fun hosting! The campers' sewing buddies are having fun, too!

Are you interested in learning how to quilt? Pam has fast-paced course for quick learners! Join her in-store on Sundays in July for her intensive 5-hour workshop on all the basics of quilting.

You will learn how to read a pattern, cutting skills, sewing, squaring up, walking foot quilting and finishing. You'll also get experience with half-square triangles, rail strips and nine-patch throughout the quilt.

This class will set you out on your own quilting adventure, and have you creating masterpieces in no time!

SPECIAL NOTE: If you have little or no knowledge of your machine, it is advisable that you FIRST COMPLETE the "Get Acquainted with Your Machine" Class and then get some practice in. You should have previous sewing work under your belt and be familiar with your sewing machine to get the most from this fast paced class.
