Calling all product junkies! Do you think the products you once loved no longer work like they did in the beginning? So you're on the hunt for the next product but after time end up in the same cycle.

It might not be your product, you may need to clarify your hair. Clarifying hair will remove the build up and give you a clean canvas to work with. What products did you once love but felt weren't as effective?

I get so caught up in everything having to be perfect, I might be a perfectionist. I have so many photos that I'd love to share on social media of my clients hair but don't post a majority of it because there's one strand out of place or one curl that's just not "right". It's exhausting, so here's a photo of all my strands out of place!

People always want the perfect hair color, but is there such thing? Change is okay, it may be perfect for that season and doesn't have to be forever. But remember for the integrity of your hair to not change your hair too frequently!

Anyone else feel nostalgic over a hooded dryer? I thought about swapping this out for something more modern but I just can't let it go!

Professional shampoo is concentrated. If you feel like you're not getting a good lather everywhere, add a little water to your scalp before adding more shampoo. If it is still not lathering up then chances are you need a second wash (if you go several days between washes and/or are oily- this is for you!)

Have you had your hair done and while you're processing, your stylist is working on someone else's hair or maybe rotating a few others?

If that style is not for you, rest assured, I don't double book because your time is valuable to me, your appointment is yours- whether that means you bring your laptop for work or want to chat.

I always get asked if I ever cut my hair. The answer is yes, absolutely! Trimmed every 6-8 weeks. If I didn't, my hair would split up and never feel like it's "growing."

If you're growing your hair, don't forget to get your haircut at your color appointments!

Does your shampoo not lather well? If you go several days beteen washes, chances are it's you, not your shampoo! I always do 2 shampoos on my hair. Second shampoo always lathers like crazy.

As I was chatting with our photographer discussing how we always think we need to fix this, fix that, pick ourselves apart. I came to the realization that you are the only one that sees it!

So many times when someone sits in my chair they will point out their flaws.... Things I never even noticed on them as a negative!

We are so critical of ourselves, myself included! So here's your reminder that you're perfect the way you are ❤️

The basics of sleeping with hair extensions

NEVER go to bed with a wet head! The moisture on the track could cause mold and other issues!

Brush your hair before putting it in a loose braid to prevent any matting.

Silk pillowcase will keep the friction off your extensions.

Why am I losing so much hair?

This is a common question I get.

Chances are before you start to panic, there's probably nothing to worry about.

There are three stages of the hair growth cycle: anagen (the growth phase), catagen (an intermediary phase), and telogen (the resting phase). The telogen phase signals the start of the shedding, hair is likely to fall out around 100 days after entering this phase. It's normal to lose about 100 hairs a day!

However if you're noticing baldness or discomfort, those are separate issues where a doctor would need to be involved.

So while everyone's experience with hair loss is different, if you're simply noticing a little more fall out than usual right now, it's probably natural!

Does your hair feel drier the more days you go without washing?

Use your leave in conditioner on your already styled hair! Lightly mist and use your wet brush to evenly distribute! It shouldn't mess up your style or curls as long as you're lightly misting. You won't need to do this on freshly washed hair, but on day 3 or when it starts to feel dry at the ends.

I feel guilty and feel the need to justify myself when telling clients "I'm sorry, I don't work that day". But to be truthful, even on my so called days off I'm actually still working! Working behind the computer instead of behind the chair. I made a commitment this year to spend 6 hours on my office day, every week so I can handle the paperwork side of things, and invest more time on my education!

2020 wasn't all bad. There has never been this much online education for licensed stylist, and I'm kind of loving being able to take them from home! Great for us introverts!

Heck no! They wouldn't last nearly as long!

It's the same with your hair! Washing daily strips your hair of those natural oils it needs to live a LONG and healthy life!
