Meet Lia Patra, a cast member of Arizona Unzipped. Lia shares her excitement about the upcoming performances, her dance background and what she loves to do off stage.

❔ What are you most excited about AZ Unzipped?
🎙️ Dancing with the cast and showing off our hard work. It's always a privilege to see everyone dressed up, own the stage and appreciate the historic artform of burlesque.

❔ How did you get started in dancing?
🎙️ I started when I was 3 years old, in my hometown of Fort Dodge, Iowa. I was trained in the usual disciplines--ballet, tap and jazz.

❔ What do you like to do when you're not dancing?
🎙️ I like to snowboard and hike, explore new places with my partner, and play with my two dogs. I also practice and teach yoga!

❔ What are you most excited about AZ Unzipped?
🎙️ I’m so excited to be back with the talented PSP cast on that gorgeous Orpheum stage! There’s nothing like collaborating with artists that share a similar passion in such a beautiful, historic space!!

❔ What are your favorite styles of dance?
🎙️Ballet was my first love from a very young age, but now I just love whatever style best portrays the story I’m telling. I also love fusing styles together when I find inspiration too!

❔ Favorite song/ music?
🎙️Oh gosh, this is always such a hard question for me because my music taste changes with my mood, but “Dream a little dream of me” by The Mama’s and The Papa’s has always been a favorite.

We caught up with the one and only Marshall Shore, otherwise known as Hip Historian. He will be back on stage in the Arizona Unzipped production on Jan 5 & 6, 2024. It's a history lesson you don't want to miss!
❔ What are you most excited about AZ Unzipped?
💬I’m excited to be a part of the beautiful Orpheum Theater’s 95th Anniversary. Being on that iconic stage sharing some really cool Arizona stories in an entertaining way, bringing burlesque back to the theater with and her team.
❔ Tell us an interesting fact about AZ history.
💬 Angel Walker, AKA Satan’s Angel, was an A-list burlesque performer who retired to Arizona, but her claim to fame as “queen of the fire tassels” caught up with her, reignited her career. She was the spark that lead to Arizona Unzipped, a unique mash up of Arizona history and burlesque!
❔ Favorite Arizona historical figure?
💬Rusty Warren, the birth mother of the sexual revolution. Lived and played in a piano bar here in Arizona, recorded over 15 albums (seven went Gold!) Her early 1960s hit was “Knockers Up.” That original sheet music made it’s to the Library of Congress, is highlighted in the National Comedy Center, and influenced so many.
