Another Color Transformation… this time in reverse! Going back to black! JET black!
Have you ever seen someone who had blonde hair, then colored it black and it just had this gross greenish, greyish, yucky -ish cast to it?!? I call it “swamp water” ☹️☹️☹️
It’s usually because when the person went dark, they did it in one step! The PROFESSIONAL way to go dark is to fill in the missing underlying pigment ⬅️ (BIG word!)
What does that mean??? Well, when you lighten the hair, you see warmth exposed… hair does not naturally lighten to an ash tone. You see tones of red, orange or yellow exposed. Those are the underlying pigments. The lighter your hair gets from the sun or lightener, more of those are removed.
When you go darker, you have to put those tones back into the hair or it will look very unnatural, A.K.A. “swamp water”…
So, here is a lovely 4 step transformation going back to black. We forgot to photograph one of the filler steps, but, I think you get it! 😘😘😘

Salon life has been very busy, but I had to come back from vacay with a fun transformation project on my favorite master of transformations hair friends!!! She was actually a violet red before we made her a brunette with honey highlights. Then we installed 4 boxes on 2 shades of tape-in extensions to her bob and she’s a new hair friend!!!
