...because design works for building business.
We're thrilled to have shot, edited and produced an SMPS Philadelphia Marketing Communications award-winning video for the 35th anniversary of our client HSC Builders & Construction Managers! Congratulations to Bob Harrison and his team for the win. More to come, right?
Just in time to help commemorate Juneteenth.
Miller Designworks (MDW), the Chester County-based interpretive and multimedia design firm, has designed and installed a brand new timeline and map exhibit at the Kennett Underground Railroad Center (KURC), housed in the historic Dr. Isaac Johnson House on 120 N. Union St. in Kennett Square, PA.
The full-wall timeline highlights important people and events that helped shape the fight for freedom for enslaved peoples in America. The striking timeline uses imagery and stories on the wall, as well as links to the website for more information available via QR codes. The end wall has a large antique map image with notable local buildings called out that have significant connections to the importance of the region to the Underground Railroad and the abolitionist movement in the Kennett area.
The KURC occupies a room in the Kennett Heritage Center (http://www.kennettheritagecenter.org), also designed and created by MDW. For more information on KURC, go to https://www.kennettundergroundrr.org.
MDW is always honored to help further the understanding of the significant historical heritage of the Chester County area.
A really fine segment on the Underground Railroad in Kennett Square. It was fun to see our interpretive design work used as the backdrop for several of the interviews, and close-ups of panels as b-roll. Several parts were shot at the Kennett Heritage Center where we recently completed four rooms of Kennett Square history. We are now beginning a makeover and interpretive design for the Kennett Underground Railroad Center's room in the building. It's truly amazing how much history was made right in our backyard, and we love bringing it tolofe for these important organizations. Great work by WHYY!
The Underground Railroad in Kennett Square - WHYY Travel to Kennett Square, PA and discover why it was known as “a hotbed of abolitionism."
Great story about one of our latest Interpretive Design projects, the Jones Log Barn Living History Center in Chesterbrook.
Restored Revolutionary War-era barn is reopening as a living history site in Chester County Preservationists worked for years to dismantle, relocate, and reassemble what’s likely one of the oldest barns in the region.
