The mountain air has a special kind of magic for us🏔️✨
We’ll be heading to Gatlinburg with our family, and would love to hear of any recommendations y’all may have!

I figured today was an appropriate one to reshare this recipe story…
My Dad and I loved cooking together. It was our thing.
Our process was always the same, one of us would be inspired by an ingredient or dish and we would go back and forth (sometimes for weeks!) sharing our ideas until we felt we had a foundation.
One day, he called to say he wanted to make a bar-cookie based off of a White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookie, but he wanted more of the sweet & salty component. We came up with a few immediate ideas (like Graham cracker crust!) but were stumped on the finishing note, something to tie it all together. One day I was at their house, when an idea came to me, “what if we did a milkier version of caramel?” There was a pause as he looked off, taking in my suggestion. I loved watching his brain work whenever he envisioned something. He then looked back to me, smiling and said “let’s get to the store!” We had a foundation!
And we made them that Sunday afternoon while we watched football 🏈
When it came time to taste the fruits of our labor, like every time before and since, we would sit down at the table together in anticipation of that first bite, and on the count of 3 we’d go in at the same time, then watch the other’s face to see if we could read each other’s thoughts. Most of the time, we were in harmonious agreement. While we would often go back to the drawing board to better curate our recipes more to our specific preferences, I do love that we got these down perfectly on the first try.
And in his honor, we have sold these in the bakery every day, since day one. Y’all know them as Daddy’s White Chocolate Caramel Macadamia Nut Bars (second slide), and they are not surprisingly one of our top sellers. Sweet, salty, gooey, just the right amount of crunchy and deliciously rich.
I love having the opportunity to create everyday, my recipes are more than just items to be sold, it’s sharing my love and some of my most sacred memories with all of you.

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads who just by being themselves, help shape their children’s purpose.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the slowest for the storefront, so we use these days to get to our chiropractor appointments, and to try and take care of other accident-related errands. We also try to rest and heal our bodies as best as we can.

More of the same 😶

Some of you already know that we were involved in a car accident last Saturday (3/30) evening. Miraculously walking away with no major injuries, we both didn’t even think of closing the store initially, especially as we had orders due Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. But oh, has the subsequent pain set in. With stiff joints, pain in our necks, shoulders, backs and knees, we are not operating anywhere near our usual level and we’ve had to turn people away. It takes a lot of energy and optimal health to be able to turn out what we do everyday.

So we’re taking part of next week off to give our bodies the chance to recuperate, and to check off some of the manyyy things we need to take care of post-accident. We thank you for your care, kindness, and understanding.

Regarding cakes, I WILL BE LIMITED in the coming weeks/months due to this, so please understand that and get your orders in. Our health is our ultimate priority right now, and the more thought and planning you give to your event ahead of time, the more chance we’ll be able to accommodate you.

This post is also to remind everyone that small businesses are people who go through things we often have to smile through. We both love and appreciate our clients so much, we are honored to be a part of your most celebratory moments, and we feel you deserve our full transparency and open honesty, as we go through a tough moment of our own.

Cloud 9 Bars | You could say these were the things that started it all. These morsels of buttery delight have been satiating my family’s sweet tooth since my Dad was a kid! My grandmother, Mum, would be the maker of these, and they were present at many a family beach vacation, holiday table, and gatherings throughout the year, and now they’re Cloud 9’s top selling item ✨
I started making them soon after Josh and I met at 15, it was one of the first things I ever cooked for him! And soon it became a frequently requested dessert by my friends, “Can you make those butter bars of your grandmothers?!” The ingredients are incredibly simplistic, yet their combination creates a unique flavor experience for everyone: I’ve had people inquire if lemon, white chocolate, Dulce de leche, butterscotch, toffee, etc were their secret ingredient… and none of those things are in it! 😆
We describe them as “a buttery sugar cookie blondie” and that’s the best we’ve come up with!
I wanted to highlight these today, because it’s my Mum’s 92nd Birthday, and though she’s celebrating in Heaven, she’s still helping me in so many ways down here. Happy Birthday Mum, thank you for all the little and big things you taught me and instilled in me, from creativity and inspiration to ways I conduct my business, so much of you is in everything that I do everyday, you are an inherent part of me, your handprint is marked on my heart ☁️✨🤍
