2 items from the studio today:

1. “Disappointments” in clay…surprise, yes they happen, but embrace disappointments as a learning experience! Sharing a photo of a recent class demo piece (Rachael’s)…large bowl in Little Loafers white clay with simple Blue Hare Fur glaze. Looks good but, ugh, a big-ol’ “S-Crack” in the bottom. Dang it!! Probably did not compress the bottom enough, or the floor was uneven, or too thick, or dried too fast. Just sharing my mishap as it is SO IMPORTANT to learn from things that go wrong...don't berate yourself…it’s a process, enjoy the journey.

2. We regularly post “Daily dose of beautiful pottery from our studio artists” on social media. The photos are typically taken of lovely pieces just after we unload – in terms of what is easy to photograph (not a juried selection!!). BUT, pieces often look much better in their “natural habitat” – i.e., in use at your home or wherever. If any current patrons are comfortable sharing a photo of their ware “in use,” please send an image via email to ClayWorx Studios [email protected] with the subject line “Art at Home”. We will try to feature these on our social media in the near future. We don’t identify artists by name on social media posts, but you are welcome to include yourself in the photo (or not). Just trying to keep things spicy!!

Happy Sunday morning! Hope everyone fared well through the storms last week. We are always reinvesting in and working hard to make ClayWorx Studios a better space for our community of artists. Sharing a photo of our newly painted beautiful logo – located above one of the sinks – but also notice the fabulous, high-end towels (who gets excited about new towels? We do…and they are THE BOMB! Enjoy.) They will make clean up a great experience for everyone. Thank you to Jane for this effort toward improving our studio space!

Get your groove on at ClayWorx Studios! Registration for our Sept-Oct 2024 class session is now live. We offer classes on hand building and wheel throwing for folks at all levels, beginning to advanced, kids, teens, and adults. We also host one-time workshops like “Date Night” and “Morning in the Mud”. We are a very welcoming and inclusive community where you can learn a lot and have some terrific fun at the same time.
