We are gearing up for our first big exhibition of the year: Greer Lankton: Science Fictions. Lankton was a pioneering trans artist whose work probed myths of s*x and gender. Curated by Isaiah Bertagnolli, this exhibition is drawn from the Greer Lankton archive at .
The exhibition opens to the public Friday, Sept 16. More details to follow!

We are happy to re-open the UAG to the public with the new exhibition, Women of Visions: Celebrating 40 Years. This project is the result of a year-long collaboration between WoV, Pitt's Museum Studies students, and the UAG.

Founded in 1981, Women of Visions is believed to be the longest-running collective of Black women artists in the United States. The 50 works in the exhibition span a range of media, from painting and sculpture to quilts and ceramics.

This exhibition includes works by all current WOV members:
Lynne b, Jo-Anne Bates, Ruth Bedeian, Christine McCray-Bethea, Tina Williams Brewer, Richena Brockinson, Pamela Cooper, Elizabeth Asche Douglas, Colette Funches, Annette Jackson, Ashley A. Jones, Charlotte Ka, LaVerne Kemp, Mary Martin, Altha Pittrell, Sharrell Rushin, Dominique Scaife, Edie Smith, Emmanuelle Wambach, Ruth Ward, Marcè Nixon-Washington, Janet Watkins.

A special installation of paper bag portraits of WOV members by Ashley A. Jones will also be on display in the gallery’s historic rotunda.
