In this workshop, you will acquire tools and a foundational framework to assist individuals who have experienced sexual assault. Join us to gain tools and support strategies for survivors of sexual assault and discover resources for survivors on campus and in the Greater Pittsburgh area.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated was founded by Seven African-American Women Educators in 1922 on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis. Despite the tumultuous presence of the Ku Klux Klan, the Founders' persevered to fight racial injustice. The legacy of the Founders' is evident in the tremendous growth over the last 101 years. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. has since grown to over 500 plus chapters worldwide, with over 100,000 dedicated members making a positive impact in their communities.

The unmatched legacy of service for over a century has solidified Sigma Gamma Rho’s place as a pioneering force within the Divine Nine organizations. The dedication to empowering women, promoting scholarship, and making a positive impact on society has been nothing short of remarkable and remains true to the dreams of the Seven Founders.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. becomes first Divine Nine sorority to raise $1 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Memphis, TN, November 03, 2023: Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated - a historically Black Sorority - has completed a historic pledge made in 2021 to raise $1 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This achievement comes days before the international collegiate and nonprofit community service organization’s 101st anniversary, marking over a century of commitment to helping those in need.

At the time of the original announcement, Sigma Gamma Rho had already raised nearly $500,000 for St. Jude. As part of the push to reach $1 million, Sigma Gamma Rho pledged a three-year sponsorship for the annual St. Jude Walk/Run, held during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month each September.

Rasheeda S. Liberty, International Grand Basileus of Sigma Gamma Rho stated, “Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated is grateful for the opportunity to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s work to find cures and help save the lives of children all over the world. I am proud of the mobilization of our global membership to reach this $1,000,000 milestone, and to have done so just prior to our 101st Founders’ Day. This accomplishment aligns with our sorority’s motto, “Greater Service, Greater Progress”. We look forward to continuing our partnership with St. Jude in the years to come.”

“We’re so grateful for and honored by the incredible heart and dedicated service shown by Sigma Gamma Rho,” said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “This is a milestone accomplishment by Sigma Gamma Rho and its members all over the world that will help St. Jude continue making progress in improving survival rates for children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.”

The Theta Nu Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. will be taking part in our annual fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in honor of Soror Hattie McDaniel. We will be tabling in the Schenley Quadrangle across from the NPHC plot on Wednesday, October 4th and in Towers Lobby on both Wednesday, October 18th and 25th. We hope to see you there!
