Where you start is START is not as important as where you FINISH!

As Marine Recruiters we sit down face to face with young Americans from all walks of life. The background you come from and the city you live in don’t matter.

It takes all kinds of different people, backgrounds, and walks of life to make our Nation what it is today. Those that protect it are no different.

It doesn’t matter where you come from, what your childhood looks like, or where you started out. What matters is where you end up. There is a reason the windshield is so much bigger than the rear view mirror.

Sitting down with a Marine Recruiter may be the perfect next step for you. Send us a DM or message your local recruiter today by visiting our website at www.marines.com

Twenty years ago today, a family lost a son, and a country lost a hero. Jason Dunham lives on in the memory of his family and all Marines who knew him, and all the generations of Marines who read his Medal of Honor citation before claiming the title for their own. He and his family are in my thoughts and prayers today, as in every day.

Jason, thank you for your service and sacrifice. We strive to be better men because men like you have lived. Gone but never forgotten.

A huge congratulations to the newest Gunnery Sergeant and Staff Sergeant in Recruiting Station Pittsburgh.

As a Gunnery Sergeant you now wear the most unique and recognizable rank in the Military. As part of that there is a new level of confidence and fidelity that is placed upon you. No doubt you will continue to crush it and LEAD Marines. Congratulations GySgt Alacron.

Up until the point of promotion of Staff Sergeant the rank has gone up. From Private First Class to Sergeant each rank has seen another chevron added to the top. As a SNCO you now earn your next strip going down. This is because from E1 - E5 you are gaining information and knowledge from your leaders. As a SNCO you are now expected to teach, mentor, develop, and pass that knowledge down to those you lead while setting the example. Continue to shine and lead Staff Sergeant Crawford.

Congratulations again to both of you! We promote on part of what you have done and part of what we expect you will continue to do. Time to LEAD and Develop Marines!!

03/29/2024

The leaders of the RS came together today to practice their skills and refine their training ability.

As Station Commanders these Marines must teach, coach, mentor, inspire, and develop their Marines. Through balanced feedback and practical application these leaders sharpened their skills today.

How are you getting 1% better today? Are you inspiring those around you?

From overcoming obstacles to fostering resilience, the workshop was a platform for educators to unite and find innovative solutions to enhance their teaching methods. The commitment demonstrated by each participant reaffirms that the strength of our educational community lies in the unity we cultivate. 🌐💪

Exciting times lie ahead as we apply these lessons in the classroom, shaping the minds of future leaders. Let’s continue to build on the connections made, share our successes, and inspire one another in this collective journey towards excellence! 🚀🍎

Day 1 of Educators Workshop is in the books. Yesterday the educators participated in multiple activities and exercises designed to highlight what it takes to become a Marine and how the Marine Corps delivers on our mission accomplishment.

We Make Marines, We win our Nation’s battles, and we return quality citizens to society. Through hands on activities and intentional stress these educators got a small taste of how we make Marines. Through mentorship and sharing of experiences they also saw how we do the other two parts.

Excited for Day 2!

Courage as a U.S. Marine is more than facing danger; it's the unwavering commitment to honor, duty, and the well-being of others.

It's the resilience to push through adversity, the selflessness to protect, and the strength to stand firm in the face of uncertainty. Being a Marine means embodying courage in every mission, on and off the battlefield.

Emotions are an inescapable part of being a human.

Emotional intelligence is not being a flag in the wind, being blown around by your emotions. It's moving through life with a sense of equanimity - stable and capable of adjusting your approach based on the situation's needs. Doing so allows you to harness emotions when they are helpful, set aside ones that aren't useful or accurate, and alter their intensity to match the needed response.

Even decisions that seem to be purely rational have an emotional component.

If you don't experience emotions, like some individuals with traumatic brain injuries to emotion-creating brain regions, you become utterly incapable of making the most mundane decisions. For these people, no matter how intelligent their rational brain is, questions like 'What color socks should I wear today?' or 'When should I go to the gym?' become overwhelming obstacles that their logical brain can't navigate.

Without the capacity to feel emotions, you can't sense what you prefer or need. Even though our rational faculties contribute to our decisions to varying degrees, our needs and desires - experienced as emotions - are critical for deciding what matters to us. This is why we say that a decision just
'feels' right. It's literally a feeling or emotion.

This is the purpose of emotions - to motivate action. When we are in tune with our emotional experience, we are better at all the things that matter the most - from purely rational decisions to managing and understanding our own experience to connecting and building relationships with others.
