Is 60 the New 40?
"60 is the New 40" is more than a marketing slogan. The phrase is also a metaphor for optimism, as well as a metaphor for good health.

How can 60 really be the new 40? First, there are the demographics. Forty years ago, when today's 40-year-olds were just being born, 40 was a fairly substantial age. In the early 1970s, every 40-year-old had lived through World War II. For the Americans, many of the men fought in the Korean War and some may even have fought in the Vietnam War. In the early 1970s, most women had had their first child by age 25. Today, child-rearing years for adults frequently begin in their 30s and even late into their 40s. Life expectancy in 1970 was approximate to age 71. Today, the average life expectancy is to age 79 or 80. Putting everything together, it can reasonably be stated that our "senior years" keep getting pushed further and further back.

Let the Flu Go Around You
Since mid-Fall TV commercials have been trumpeting the horrors of the "flu season". "It's never too soon to begin fighting this year's bug" they blare. Public health announcements urge us to get our "yearly flu shot", as if this is something we've got permanently scheduled in our Blackberries. All the leading over-the-counter pain medications offer special seasonal "flu" mixtures, and their ads deluge daytime and prime-time broadcasting.

For the health consumer, namely us, it seems as if this annual "war on the flu" is received wisdom. We're just defenseless human beings at the mercy of the all-powerful flu virus.

A statement I hear on almost a daily basis is "my doctor said my knee pain is coming from arthritis". In essence, doctors use this cop-out because they either don't know what causes knee pain or they feel they are too busy to explain it to their patients. Did your doctor ever tell you that you have a headache because you have a headache? Knee pain is an EFFECT. Arthritis is an EFFECT. Did you ever hear of an EFFECT causing an EFFECT? Doesn't regularly happen. This is why we have the statement "CAUSE and EFFECT"!

"I have been doing the Advanced Spinal Decompression treatment program for about three (3) months now and I am finally able to sit without a constant throbbing pain in my back. When I originally came to Dr. Cenk at Cenk Integrated Health, I had been diagnosed with spinal stenosis and disc degeneration. At the time I was going to see a physical therapist and my regular MD about my issues, but nothing was working, all they kept doing was trying to give me more pills and as Dr. Cenk would say they were all about “treating the symptom and not the cause”; hence why I continued to get worse and not better.
When I first started the program, I was practically immobile and had been this way for over three (3) years. I was not able to do simple tasks like household chores, laundry, dishes, and cleaning and I was completely dependent on my family to do these things as well as take care of me because I was in such excruciating pain. I couldn’t even go to church because I was not able to sit for long periods of time, and I couldn’t bend over or even kneel without pain.
It has only been three (3) months and I feel like I have my independence back. I am now able to bend over, sit, stand, walk, and take care of my family. Some of these things might seem like little things but they add up to big things not to mention my emotional well-being.
Having worked in the Health Industry for many years I understand and have seen a lot of different medical facilities and this office is one of the nicest, smoothest-run, friendliest medical facilities I have ever been.
