You can help minimize your risk of tick-borne illness by wearing DEET repellent, sporting protective clothing, and frequently checking for ticks. Before you head outdoors this season, review our tick bite prevention tips. - Stick to well-defined trails. Avoid tall grass and bushes. - Wear protective clothing. Think closed-toe shoes and long pants. Tuck in shirts and pant legs. - Use insect repellent that's at least 20% DEET. She was transferred to UPMC Mercy from another trauma center so that both her injuries and burns could be cared for simultaneously. UPMC Mercy is the only center in Pittsburgh that has both an ABA-verified burn center and a Level 1 trauma center under one roof. "Ever since I came here and met the team, they really inspired me to start helping other people. I've started making TikToks to help other people who have been in situations that I've been in, and I'm just here to tell them, "Hey, everything's gonna be fine."

This program pairs high school students with experts from the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute, allowing each student to learn about the profession and heart disease one-on-one with their mentor. The program hopes to inspire the next generation of cardiologists and improve the health of the community as a whole.
