Before/After
I officially started my business in 2020. (I never thought a pandemic would hit 3 months into it).
My friend, Gina, supported this venture with having me out to take photos of her family in 2019, as I was prepping to go official. I had only taken a couple courses at that point. Upwards to $40,000 later in education, from courses, to full mentorships with Shelley Paulson, workshops, challenges, etc. etc, I feel I have come so far in my skill set. The before photo, I did not know how to edit skin tones. It is too cool in tone. There was I hair in front of Emery's eye that I removed, however, my skillset in removing unwanted things is so much better with the help of better technology in Photoshop with Ai editing. Even the dust on the black pony's butt I was able to remove so much better today.
All of my education is to benefit my clients. Why do I feel it is so important no matter what your business is, but especially for photography:
Technological Advancements: The field of photography is constantly evolving with new technologies, equipment, and software. Continuing education helps photographers stay updated with the latest tools and techniques, allowing them to produce high-quality work and remain competitive in the industry.
Creative Growth: Photography is not just about technical skills; it's also about creativity and artistic expression. Continuing education can inspire photographers to explore new ideas, experiment with different styles, and push the boundaries of their creativity.
Specialization Opportunities: Photography encompasses various genres such as portrait, landscape, wildlife, fashion, and documentary. Continuing education allows photographers to specialize in specific niches, honing their skills and becoming experts in their chosen field.
Business Skills: Many photographers work as freelancers or run their own photography businesses. Continuing education can help them develop essential business skills such as marketing, branding,
Happy National Day of the Horse! All my life horses seemed to be at the center of my life. As a child I’d wish for a pony and count my pennies to someday buy one. I’d watch every show or movie with horses. I’d draw horses. Then once I got my first pony at 8 years old, there was only a couple years in my life that I didn’t own one (hubby was in Navy and stationed in Hawaii). I’ve loved many throughout my life. So it certainly was an easy task to learn all about photography to capture horses and their people and the love that they share for the very animals I can’t imagine my own life without.

A little late Happy Silhouette Saturday, but I am traveling home from Dryhead today. In this slideshow, you will witness the absolute skill of Jake, who needs nobody to hold his coffee while riding, OR while a horse turns into a bronc. You will even witness him at the end taking a sip before all the action is even finished. I don't know about you all, but firstly I would have coffee all over my face, body, etc. Second, I highly doubt I would have stayed on, NOR held onto my coffee. Guess they do things a little differently out there.
One of my favorite shooting days while here at Dryhead is the canyon with the cavvy. They run them down the canyon in front of the Buffalo jump. The Indians would drive the buffo off the cliff to have meat for a couple months. As from above the land looks like it goes straight across. And even though hundreds of years ago, there are still bones there today. As they did this several times a year. It’s a bittersweet day though, as it’s always our last shoot. Today I head home and say goodbye til 2025. As next year I’ll be headed to Iceland with Phyllis instead. I sure will miss the family and this place that always feels like a home away from home to me.
Loved receiving this "unboxing" of Gentry's Tween Session Inspiration Box and Album and prints! The smile says it all! I will be offering the "Who I Am" Sessions again next year during February, March & April. The "Who I Am" photography project to fill in the forgotten photo years while enriching the lives of pre-teens. The main goal is to make pre-teens look and feel beautiful and confident in who they are. These sessions are complimentary for male and female models ages 10-12. I will ask the model and their parents a few questions, then combine the text and photographs to create one impactful slideshow that we view together over Zoom. Each participant receives $50 credit towards the items shown in this video on the day of the slideshow viewing. Interested? email me at [email protected] to snag one of the 2024 dates (tbd).
The CHAPS Win-Seek Mountain Trail Challenge images are uploading now. There are over 2700 so it will take a while. Hopefully by tomorrow I will get everybody the galleries.
Do you have a child graduating in 2024? Now is the time to get your 2024 Senior Photo Session Scheduled! Typically, seniors want Summer or Fall Sessions, as their photos for the yearbook are due early Spring. Don't wait to secure your date, as of now there are limited spaces open. Message me or email me at [email protected] to book!
They ride Stallions a bit different in Texas- no saddle, no bridle, but BIG smiles on their faces! Fonzie was such a good boy! #viselworkshops
Tonight I had my very first "Who I Am Project" reveal for Gentry! Her slideshow included some of my favorite images matched with some of the quotes from her loved ones about her. Mom, Dad, Aunts, Uncles as well as teachers sent in the questionnaires I sent out to them. (Gentry knew nothing about this part. She only answered her own questionnaire. So it was a surprise!!). It's amazing the power a single image can do for self-image, and what positive words from others can do for self-confidence THIS is what this project is ALL about! Building confidence in our Tweens before they head off to High School! This Project means the world to me, and I truly wish I was able to do this for my own children before they headed off to the tough years of high school. If you know me personally, you know how hard it was. I am fully booked for the complimentary Who I Am Project Sessions for April. However, if you have a tween who you feel could benefit from this Project, I can still do them for May & June for 1/2 of my normal deposit/retainer, which will be $100. The deposit turns to credit towards one of the Who I Am Project Collections or Ala Carte items. July through December they will be normally priced deposit/retainer at $200. Again, the $200 will be credited after your session towards one of the Collections or Ala Carte Items. You can message me or email me at [email protected] to book!
