This day 76 years ago on June 6, 1944 the Allied invasion of Normany was launched. The landing at Normandy of 156,000 American, British, and Canadian forces on June 6, 1944, marked the beginning of the end of World War II.
"Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force: You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hope and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you.
Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle-hardened. He will fight savagely.
But this is the year 1944! The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to victory!
I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle.
We will accept nothing less than full victory!"
—Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, Supreme Allied Commander, 6 June 1944.

The is a job as a Soldier in the US Army
Overview: The infantry is the main land combat force and backbone of the Army. They are responsible for defending our country against any threat by land, as well as capturing, destroying, and repelling enemy ground forces.
The intelligence analyst is primarily responsible for the analysis, processing and distribution of strategic and tactical intelligence. They are integral to providing Army personnel with information about enemy forces and potential battle areas.
As a Military Police, you’ll protect peoples’ lives and property on Army installations by enforcing military laws and regulations. You’ll also control traffic, prevent crime, and respond to all emergencies. You’ll conduct force protection, anti-terrorism, area security, and police intelligence operations. You’ll also train in corrections and detention, investigations and mobility, and security around the world.
As a Combat Medic Specialist, you'll administer emergency medical care in the field in both combat and humanitarian situations. You'll serve as a first responder and triage illnesses and injuries to save lives. You'll also train other Soldiers in lifesaver/first responder courses.
As a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Specialist, you’ll protect the country against the threat of CBRN weapons of mass destruction, and you’ll decontaminate hazardous material spills or accidents. As a Horizontal Construction Engineer, you’ll operate heavy construction equipment like bulldozers, tractors, backhoes, cranes, excavators, and road graders to help pave the way for fellow Soldiers and to make room for construction projects. Without safe roads to travel, it’s hard for Soldiers to move around, especially in unfamiliar territory. You’ll also assist Army engineers to analyze construction site needs and transport heavy construction equipment from one site to another.
As a Cavalry Scout, you’ll act as the eyes and ears on the field, gathering information about enemy positions, vehicles, weapons, and activity. With the information you’ll gather, commanders can make informed decisions about how to move troops and where and when to attack.
As a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll supervise and perform maintenance, repair, and recovery operations on wheeled vehicles and select armored vehicles that serve the Army in a variety of mission-critical roles. You’ll inspect, service, maintain, repair, replace, adjust, and test wheeled vehicles, material handling equipment systems, subsystems and components, and automotive electrical systems, including wiring harnesses and starting and charging systems.
