Toyota is an excellent place to grow your skills, but it’s also a great place to use skills you already have. Tim R., a Maintenance Manager at our new electric battery plant in Liberty, North Carolina, is a Navy veteran who joined TBMNC in April of 2023.

As a Maintenance Manager at TBMNC, Tim and his team are working to build the culture from the ground up. When asked what tips he would give someone looking to join TBMNC, Tim provided four great pieces of advice.

1. Come with a good attitude.

2. Be supportive.

3. Have a desire to learn.

4. Expect to be challenged to improve your skills.

“The things we’re doing now will make an impact. Team Members will want to work here and will recommend friends, family and associates to join. The safety culture is very strong. We strive to take care of people first, which includes supporting them, but also challenging them to grow. If you want to learn and develop your skills, Toyota is a good place to be.”

Recently, Toyota Motor North America released the 2024 Diversity + Inclusion Annual Report, showcasing the company’s ongoing commitment towards fostering limitless possibilities for all throughout the United States (including Puerto Rico), Canada, and Mexico. The annual report, published since 2018, illuminates the human stories that are propelling Toyota towards a brighter future.

Toyota’s new electric battery plant in Liberty, NC will be the first of its kind and truly speaks to our company’s desire to innovate and grow. Our team members share this passion and enjoy being part of the future of automotive technology.

Renata G., a Quality Engineering Manager, started with Toyota over a year and a half ago. When asked what the culture was like at TBMNC, she said “We want to get better and better every day, we strive to give our members all the conditions they need to do a good job.” Because Toyota places a high value on the quality of our products, the work her team does is incredibly important. “Our main job is to make sure that no product outside the specification leaves the facility. We make an impact as we protect our customers…”

Renata’s advice for people interested in joining the TBMNC team: “Stay curious and be eager to learn. It is an important project for the future of mobility, so you can expect to be part of a high technology operation contributing to the production of high-quality batteries that power electric and hybrid vehicles.

Last month, Toyota Texas celebrated a new milestone in workforce inclusion of individuals with disabilities: the grand opening of the ToyotAbility Production Center (TPC). The TPC is a dedicated workspace within the plant that employs individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in subcomponent work.

The ToyotAbility Business Partnering Group (BPG) was the driving force behind the TPC. ToyotAbility’s mission is to support individuals and groups across a broad spectrum of visible, invisible, temporary and permanent disabilities within and beyond the walls of Toyota.

IONNA and Toyota Motor North America announced that Toyota has joined seven other automakers as an investor in IONNA to support the buildout of its high-powered charging network for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) across North America.

This will provide Toyota and Lexus customers access to the public network of DC fast chargers IONNA will begin deploying later this year and will continue building throughout the decade.

Last month, members of our ToyoPets business partnering group teamed up with Dallas Pets Alive to make snuffle mats and tug ropes for foster pets! 🐾

We also donated various pet supplies, including our AAP Kurgo Pet Products, such as dog first aid kits, dog hair removers, and bench seat covers. The Grand Highlander outfitted with Kurgo accessories added an extra touch of style and functionality, and we couldn't resist a fun photo shoot with the foster animals!

As a volunteer-driven organization, Dallas Pets Alive works to challenge the way our community views rescue animals through resources and education, and aims to rescue healthy and treatable pets at North Texas shelters.

As we close out Pride Month, we are delighted to feature Bailey B., Technical Lead, Consumer Lending at Toyota Financial Services. Bailey recently shared her experience of what Pride Month means to her and the endless support she receives from team members and leadership at Toyota.

Bailey also talked about being part of the customer's journey and how it is one of the most fulfilling aspects of her job. She eagerly anticipates introducing the latest data and technology trends, a testament to the exciting opportunities for growth and innovation at TFS.

When it comes to living life, Natalie K. says to find out what makes you feel fulfilled and happy and then pursue it. That’s one of the reasons why she feels proud to work at Toyota — she’s doing what she loves. Natalie shares more about her and what means to her:

"My favorite thing about working for Toyota is the pride I feel when I see a vehicle I helped design out on the road! Also, Toyota has greatly supported my identity. Among other things, the support we have for the Spectrum BPG, our benefits, and little things like including preferred pronouns in our online communication tools.

To me Pride Month is about acceptance and, not to be overly simplistic, pride. A lot of people have overcome hardships, stress, and more just for being who they are. It’s a way to celebrate overcoming those struggles and continuing to move forward, in hopes of inspiring courage in others who may still be struggling. It lets others know they are not alone and that . there are people who accept you, support you, and who love you for exactly who you are.

I joined Spectrum as a member a few years ago because I have a sibling and friends who were members of the LGBTQ+ community. Once I felt comfortable identifying publicly as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I was graciously welcomed by the Toyota North America Spectrum community. At the end of the day, people are people. Every person has value, and we have more in common than we realize. I’m hoping my work on the Spectrum board will help at Toyota and beyond."

Dave W., group manager for credit at Toyota Financial Services Experience Center East, and his family are spreading awareness at Toyota after a stem cell donation saved his young daughter’s life.

In January 2022, Dave's daughter Megan was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer called MDS at the age of 12. Two years later, Megan is 15 years old, cancer-free, and she's paying it forward by raising funds for the Children's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House.

Every day this month, when Greg G. arrives at Toyota Texas in San Antonio for work, he’ll see the Pride Progressive flag flying just outside the entrance to the plant’s main lobby. For this team leader in Human Resources Talent Development, that gesture is an outward sign of the Toyota's inward commitment to diversity and inclusion.

“This marks the sixth year in a row that Toyota Texas has done this. It sends a message of inclusivity and acceptance, fostering a positive work environment where team members can bring their whole selves to work without fear of discrimination or prejudice.

Working for Toyota, I have always felt welcomed to be my authentic self and have always felt respected.
