FRISCO, Texas - Lamar University junior kicker Ben Woodard has been named Southland Conference Special Teams Player of the Week announced league official Monday morning. The award, which is the first career weekly superlative for Woodard, comes after he hit a 51-yard field goal with 11 seconds remaining to propel Lamar to a conference victory at Texas A&M-Commerce.

Woodard's effort on the field Saturday also landed him honorable mention National FCS Player of the Week recognition.

On the day, Woodard was a perfect 3-of-3 on field goal attempts converting attempts of 46 (the first field goal attempt of his LU career), 37 and 51yards. What makes Woodard's game-winning kick even more thrilling is the fact that it came 1:44 after the Lions' Luke Jackson hit a 52-yarder to tie the game.

Woodard finished the game with 11 points and nearly 65 yards on kick offs. That a Boy Ben!
