Hello FMS Patients,
I want you to know that we are implementing sick protocols for the office. Patients who are sick will call (813) 652-9742 to be checked in by the office staff and remain in their vehicles. Only well patients will be allowed into the clinic waiting room -
All patients entering the clinic will be screened via thermometer - if a fever is documented the patient will be asked to wait outside in their vehicle. Once sick patients have been screened by the staff and worked up the providers will examine and treat as needed via our secondary clinic entrance. Covid19 screenings will be available soon from Labcorp. If you are sick with high fever and muscle aches taking fluids, Tylenol 1000mg every 8 hours as needed for fever, Motrin 800mg every 8 hours as needed for fever and resting is your best option. If these measures do not help then we can certainly evaluate you further at the office. If you develop shortness of breath and cannot breath properly than you will need to be evaluated either at the clinic or the nearest Emergency department.
Many patients are asking what can we do?
Canceling social gathering is completely appropriate. It is not advisable right now to go on trips or gather socially as the Covid19 virus spreads. That is why the Government is considering further measures for containment. Protect your loved ones and stay away from groups - if you go out order takeout and do not enter restaurants - wash hands and sanitize. Shoes at your doorway as the virus lives for days on hard services and you do not want to track it into your homes. Change clothes immediately when you get home into a contaminated pile and shower and have “house” clothes. Otherwise you will cross contaminate and potentially infect others and yourselves.
Best regards, be safe and well...by implementing higher standards and being prepared we will slow the virus progression. It is a national need to implement these measures so please pass on.
God bless you all,
Dr. Gimness

One thing that's kept this year's flu season from being worse is the flu vaccine. This year's vaccine is working relatively well. ”It's been reducing infections by 45 to 50 percent," says Martin. "This is better news than what we had last year.” - Emily Martin, Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Michigan School of Public Health.
