What do you do when the storm knocks at your door?
Today is the launch date of Faith In Destiny, a Business Retreat in Fort Lauderdale Florida scheduled for March 6 to 8, 2025.
As Hurricane Milton is forecasted to land in Florida and cause major damage leading families to evacuate, I thought about delaying it.
As I kept reflecting on it, I could hear that voice telling me how it is inevitable to live a life without storms.
Do we delay, postpone, stop or cancel everything because we are in the middle of a storm? Maybe some things but not everything because life goes on. Do we ask the storms to wait and come when we complete what’s on our to-do list? Certainly not, our lists are never ending.
Every minute counts and in the moment, we get to make a decision that will lead to our next thing. Sometimes, it is a question of standing still, other times it’s about surviving and saving lives. Is there confusion? Of course. Is there fear? Definitely.
And yet, we get to get going because storms come and hit our life whether we are ready or not; and they also go. Yes, storms only last a moment.
We often think of storms as chaotic and countless losses. While it is true, the chaos in my life also brought me clarity, directions and a new foundation on which to rebuild a stronger me.

Have you ever dimmed or lost your voice?
I have, and more than once! For so many years, I’ve hidden in the corner - you know that dark corner where there is nobody. I went there because I was going through life, trying to navigate different areas of my life and to put pieces together the way I wanted them to be. I was getting frustrated because life was not happening the way I had planned, because I wanted it to be like a certain way fighting against the odds; and instead, I was full of conditional love and resentment.
After much work on myself and creating intimate moments seeking my authentic self with the Lord, little did I know there were things inside of me that were much deeper than what I thoughts. Deep wounds that I never really took the time to recover or heal from because you know… “the show must go on”. I forgot where my heart was and put all my emotions in a box and under the carpet. The fear of getting hurt while I was still down – that was my battle: how to be whole again. Our body system constantly creates neurological paths based on our system mechanism and in my case, it shut down some memory part of my brain as a protection.
For about 16 years, that is how long my beloved grand-mother passed away – I stopped singing. Singing was my way to live in my world and escape the craziness of this world. As life continued to happen, I realized with time that I could no longer remember or memorize song lyrics. Again, it was easier to just ignore the signs because I avoided what was underneath. I became a robot, a walking body.
At the beginning of 2024, I started a leadership program – not a typical one.
For 4 months, I got to face myself, my own demons and acknowledged the blind spots that were sabotaging me, my family and my legacy. I decided to regain my power and to look for my voice. I started a deep emotional work and was able to recreate new neurological paths on top of those that I thought would be forever dead. In March 2024, with God’s hand on me, I memorized for the first time in 16 years an entire song that I am now able to sing without lyrics. As I am unleashing my power, my voice and stepping into my calling, I am sharing with you a NEW me. She is here to stay! I hope you enjoy it!
