Peace is the result of retraining your mind to process life as it is, rather than how you think it should be. Wayne Dyer❤️
If you choose me as your end of life doula, I will companion you in the final season of your life.
Dr. Alan Wolfelt, Ph.D. uses the word companion - which is usually a noun - as a verb, as an action, to refer to a way of relating with another person.
He said, “The heart of our supportive strength sources from our ability to show up and companion one another.”
He wrote:
"Companioning"
Companioning is about honoring the spirit; it is not about focusing on the intellect.
Companioning is about curiosity;
it is not about expertise.
Companioning is about learning from others;
it is not about teaching them.
Companioning is about walking alongside; it is not about leading.
Companioning is about being still;
it is not about frantic movement forward.
Companioning is about discovering the gifts of sacred silence; it is not about filling every painful moment with words.
Companioning is about listening with the heart; it is not about analyzing with the head.
Companioning is about bearing witness to the struggles of others; it is not about directing those struggles.
Companioning is about being present to another person’s pain; it is not about taking away the pain.
Companioning is about respecting disorder and confusion; it is not about imposing order and logic.
Companioning is about going to the wilderness of the soul with another human being; it is not about thinking you are responsible for finding the way out.
With gratitude to my doula teachers and to all of the people who choose to work with people at the end of life and support those who love them.

What makes Julie the perfect doula for you or your loved one during this sacred time? She is an excellent communicator and listener, is highly organized and wonderfully reliable. When these skills are combined with her compassion and life experiences, she is fully prepared to be of remarkable service to you during this time.
While she considers herself a spiritual person, she does not come from a faith tradition. Therefore, your faith & beliefs are paramount. She will support you in every way possible and is open to everything that is important to you. For a full list of services, please visit the SERVICES page.
Julie is available to provide a 1-hour introductory presentation about Advanced Care Planning and the ways an End of Life Doula can be of assistance to your organization, group, business or club within Contra Costa County. As a doula, she can provide education and advocation about the dying process to you, the client and your loved ones.
An end of life doula will complement the hospice care team and be present alongside family and friends of the client to allow them to remain at home and have dignity at the end of their life. Julie can walk beside you during this final season, providing care that is from the heart.
There’s already so much happening at the end of a life. A doula can handle a variety of tasks that the client does not want to burden their loved ones with. If you would like more information on how Julie can help you, a friend or a loved one, please feel free to contact FSD for more details. Julie can provide a complimentary, no obligation consultation via phone or a zoom call.
