The Contra Costa Community College District Police are currently investigating a non-specific anonymous threat that was discovered in the form of graffiti on the Pleasant Hill Campus Wednesday afternoon. The graffiti was found in men’s restrooms in the Humanities building and in the Library.

*The college will remain open Thursday with all classes and services running as scheduled while we continue the investigation.*

There will be a significant increase in police presence on the campus to ease any anxiety that our community may be feeling.

*Counselors will be available this week and next to help students who are experiencing increased anxiety.*

DUE TO THE UNPREDICTABLE AND POOR AIR QUALITY WE ARE EXPERIENCING THROUGHOUT CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, THE CONTRA COSTA COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT HAS DECIDED TO CLOSE ALL LOCATIONS – EFFECTIVE 3:00 P.M. THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. ALL CAMPUS FACILITIES ARE CLOSED FOR ALL EVENTS. WE WILL REOPEN MONDAY, NOVEMBER 19. TO MONITOR THE CURRENT AIR QUALITY, PLEASE VISIT THE BAY AREA AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT DISTRICT.

In addition....Due to the college closure, the last day to drop with a "W" for full-term classes with the deadline of November 16 has been extended to Monday, November 19. All drops must be completed in-person.

The air quality has been so poor in the northern bay, that most schools have made the decision to suspend school pending safer air conditions. A lot of schools that have made the decision to suspend class have a better air quality report than us in Pleasant Hill! their academic progress. That’s why, with the help of generous school and community organizations, the DVC Food Pantry is officially open to all students! Located in the Multicultural Center of the
Margaret Lesher Student Union, this resource will offer free non-perishable food to current students of
both the Pleasant Hill and San Ramon campus. This is a valuable step to remediate a serious barrier that
can hinder students from success, and we hope to reach out to as many students as possible! To learn

We all breathe the same air, drink the same water, and live on the same planet. It is our responsibility to protect it, especially from ourselves. We can't be selfish with our desires. Good Afternoon, DVC!

Just like last year, the 2017 federal tax return deadline doesn't fall on the usual date of April 15. Federal tax payments and personal income tax filings for the 2016 tax year are due on April 18, 2017.

Please take the time this weekend to be prepared to submit your taxes before the deadline. There are always extensions available, but if you have a balance due, it must be payed by the deadline, regardless.

::UPDATE::

Diablo Valley College will be open today, March 23,2018. All classes and services resuming on the Pleasant Hill Campus as scheduled. The San Ramon campus will maintain its regular schedule of Friday closure.

While the investigation will continue, we have found no additional evidence to corroborate the validity of a greater than normal risk to our community. There will be increased police presence on the campus today to ease any anxiety that our community may be feeling. For those of you who may be experiencing anxiety or stress, we are offering counseling services on Friday and, on a limited basis, during spring break.

Please join us today for the Black History 101 Mobile Museum. Returning to DVC, featuring some 7,000 original artifacts of Black memorabilia. The museum’s historical context leads up to '68 with original material from the trans-Atlantic slave trade and the Jim Crow era.

Special guest : Khalid el-Hakim, the “hip hop generation’s Arthur Schomburg"

Also included in the exhibit is a 45-60 minute multi-media lecture by Professor Griff of Public Enemy who will speak on how that era inspired the work of Public Enemy.

The Moblie Museum will be open all day!

Khalid El Hakim will be available to answer questions.
