The sun doesn't come up all at once, but it does always come up. It's rise is deliberate and sure. Pursuing God is like that. The shadows won't dissolve in the blink of an eye. But they will shorten and retreat under the full light of day.

In Matthew 4:1-11, we see Satan tempt Jesus in three different ways. We ought to expect him to try to throw those same punches our way.

Jesus wants us to know that we don't not live off of bread alone...we need more than the material world. And, that we'll have to continually fight being tempted to believe otherwise.

Sean explained that "sifting" is the process of separating what is good and what is bad. During the sifting, the chaff is separated from the wheat. That which can be used for nourishment is separated from that which cannot. Refinement can be painful.

Our story never ends. That’s the beauty of being a creation of God. We are beings made for eternity. Because of that, there is never a single chapter that defines our lives, and we can always look forward with hope and expectation that one day, in totality, God will bring us fully into his goodness.

I was ask this morning, “Why is it so hard to get our first generation disciples to make disciples?”

I read this later in the day, This week, NBER (National Bureau of Economic Research) published the results of a UBI (universal basic income) study that gave low-income participants $1,000/ month for three years, and found they worked fewer hours, made less money than the control group, and didn’t do skills training or other activities that would presumably grow their future employment opportunities — in other words, the free cash made their lives worse.

Just as in the economic world dependency squashes personal incentive, whatever creates dependency in the spiritual world is a cancer to the good news of Jesus moving from generation to generation.

My mindset began to shift when I saw how much my training had unknowingly led me to create dependency.

Every story has a hero. The Bible makes it clear that Jesus is the hero, the savior, in the story God has written for us. How do we make room for the Hero of heroes to have a place in our lives? How can we join his team, and learn to be heroic like he is?

Brothers, the US came one inch from being in a Civil War last night. (IMHO). A civil war will disrupt the flow of resources toward the Great Commission. The US economy would plunge and take the world with it. I know I don’t need to tell you this but for my sake I am asking that you multiply the prayer effort toward the US. May our King be found in this moment in history and do something that can only be blamed on Him! I am praying for an undeniable Jesus moment in the US.

This week we talk about VILLAINS.

Why do we have to live in a world with them? What do we do about them? How do we not become one ourselves?
