We also want to start a “walk with your doc” group and meet at the park.

We talk a lot about protein, water, calories, and how to get enough of these things when working on weight loss.
It’s hard to get everything that you need every day!
That’s why we have been working with you to find things that can have 2 roles! Example: the protein that you can mix with water that we tried last week!
This week we talked about fruit! Fruit sometimes gets a bad rep but it can be an important part of weight loss! Not all fruits are created equal when it comes to health but this list contains some of the good ones! And, we talked about how frozen fruit can actually be better for you than fresh fruit (and can save money!!). Fruit has a lot of fiber (another important thing to work on when looking weight) and many other health benefits (anti-oxidants, lots of vitamins).

We had a great weight loss class today! Standing room only!
In order to keep our class sizes a bit smaller (and give seats to everybody!) we will be adding another class option!
Next week only (for now!) on Saturday May 11 we will do classes in 2 locations!
We will continue our class in PV at 8am and also do one in our AC location (2nd floor of the hospital, suite 222) at the same time! The topic will be the same at both locations so nobody will miss anything!
We are hoping to hire some more providers so that we can do both locations every week very soon!
To summarize what we talked about today:
We talked about protein (again) and even had a potentially new source of protein for people to try. We all agreed that it’s hard to reach your protein goals. The homework for the week is to try lentils!

Lots of dermaplane and Dysport today!
Bye bye peach fuzz! Dermaplane also gets rid of dead skin and makes it so that your normal face products can absorb better. Give yourself a nice glow!!
As for the Dysport (botulinum toxin, same ingredient as Botox), well, we love that too! Tired of those wrinkles and deep creases? We can help!!

We had a great weight loss topic this week!
Here is the article if anybody wants to read it again!
Today we also got to sample some smoothies, heard some great quinoa recipe options, and talked about some of our exciting new weight loss class options!

The smoothie we had today was: 1 cup of frozen strawberries, 1 cup of plain almond milk, 1 serving of coffee flavored Premier protein, and a small scoop of dry oats!
So yummy and filling and very low in calories!!

It’s still laser season! It’s the perfect time to work on removing some of that sun damage we have accrued over the years.
Check out these “before” and “after” pics!
Lower left is the before. On top of that is 2 weeks post laser. We offer dermaplane then to help remove even more of the dead skin. Then the right pic is the “after.” Most people need 2-3 treatments, spaced a month apart.
But, you can still notice a pretty significant improvement even after the first one!

Strawberry-Chocolate Greek Yogurt Bark 03/30/2024

Another great week with many great gains in health and LBs lost!

Reminder: this week our focus was not exactly on the timing of carbs but more about the total overall amount of carbs! Remember simple carbs with 1-2 sugars break down quickly, so they are recommended 30 min before your workout. Complex carbs are 3 or more sugars, and take a little longer for your body to break down. Research shows having complex carbs 2-4 hours before workout is beneficial to having energy for your exercise, and then making sure to replenish your glycogen stores after your workout, up to 2 hours post-workout out. Here’s the two recipes of yogurt bark I made this week, remember you can add anything for desired flavor, protein or fiber value!!

Meet Rhonda.
She has lost 44 pounds so far and this is what she says!
“I have a lot more energy which makes me sleep better because I wear myself out. I feel more positive about the way I look and my clothes are fitting better. I have even bought smaller pants and tops. I don't feel as hungry and am able to do more things during the day.”

She has started drinking about a gallon of water, no longer drinks soda (had been drinking at least 1 per day before), and is now drinking unsweetened tea (had been drinking “a lot” of sweet tea before).

She also eats more regularly now (at least 3x/day instead of skipping a lot of meals).

Meet Hailey!
She is excited to share her story.
She has been working on weight loss for a few months and is feeling great after losing almost 40lbs!
She went from drinking as many as 15 cans of soda per day and NO water to drinking ZERO sodas per day and sipping on water all day long! She also went from NO exercise to exercising 3 days per week.
She feels that her mood has improved “a ton” and her self esteem has also improved dramatically.
She didn’t expect her anxiety/depression to improve but, to her surprise, she told us “they are basically gone now!”
She has worked hard! She no longer eats fast food (previously almost exclusively did); she cooks most of her meals at home now. This not only saves calories, it also saves money!
And, she had even found some healthy options from the freezer section of the grocery store for days that she doesn’t have time (or energy) for cooking.

We know weight loss isn’t easy for most people. That’s why we try to break it down into small, attainable goals. We know that there is no magic pill or shot. It takes hard work!

Meet Teresa! She’s lost 17lbs so far and this is what she has to say:
“I have learned how important protein is! I try to get at least 40-50 grams of protein in morning with a protein shake and fruit or a protein bar. This extra protein really jumpstarts my intake which, in turn, really cuts down on cravings and overeating at lunchtime. I never knew so much about protein until I started this weight loss journey. One thing for sure is that you have to eat. You cannot skip meals or go without eating. You will not lose the weight. I make every effort to plan meals or at least have a protein bar or shake at hand. I still find it challenging to meet my daily water goals, but I get close.”
