"Zephrys has been putting her biscuit-making skills to the test and is a secretary in training with her favorite pens (they are her favorite toys). She has quickly stolen the hearts of many Placer SPCA staff and volunteers. She enjoys lounging about and people-watching out the windows.

She does require a bit of extra attention due to her wobbling and poor depth perception. She is required to be indoors only as it is the safest place for her to be with her new family.

She is very curious and brings a smile to anyone's face who spends time or watches her. She may do well with other calm animals with a slow introduction. She loves to be pet and held and flops around in front of you to get your attention and would likely do well with slightly older children.

"Chester is a gentle senior Labrador mix who is looking for a comfortable bed in a loving home. Chester is nine years young and just hitting his stride. He enjoys going for walks in the park so he can smell all the smells and plod happily along.

This handsome guy is also fun- he likes playing in the yard, exploring, and having a laugh, even if that means wearing a cow Halloween costume.

Like most dogs his age, Chester loves having a place to nap in the sun. He has spent some time in a foster home, and the foster family reported that he is housetrained, likes to sleep on the couch, and enjoys a nice belly rub. What a good boy!

Chester is one of many dogs over 31 pounds that can be adopted for only $10 during the Adopt-a-Boo promotion."

Another incredible Pet Fair has wrapped up after a whole month dedicated to pet adoption, rescue work, and community. 🎉💕

Thanks to all you amazing folks who welcomed a new furry, scaly, or feathered friend into your lives and those who joined us for the events, giveaways, and so much more!

Over the past month, we've joined forces with 145 shelters and rescue organizations to help 8,443 animals find their forever homes. And there are heartwarming stories like Cocoanut and Buster's, both 13-year-old seniors, who found loving homes during the 2023 Pet Fair, thanks to Peace of Mind Senior Dog Rescue!

Plus, for each furry friend adopted, Pet Food Express proudly donated $25 to our shelter and rescue partners. That's a grand total of $211,075!

"Evan recently attended a busy event with the Wiggle Waggle Wagon, and he was a star! He met some other dogs and enjoyed that. He also got to play with toys and bask in the adoration of everyone who came to visit. He happily showed off that he knows how to sit, lay down, and even shake. Did we mention we think he’s housetrained, too?

Evan loves going for walks- he would be an ideal hiking companion because he always seems to be on the move- sniffing, exploring, and just enjoying whatever comes along.

Because Evan is over five years old, he is eligible for the Seniors for Seniors program. His adoption fee is waived for an adopter over 60!"

"Adorable, loving Cindy found the shelter to be a bit scary. Now that she is in a loving foster home, this once-shy girl is thriving! She's housetrained and gets along nicely with the resident dog. Turns out that she is a total lovebug!

Cindy walks well on leash and is particularly fascinated if her foster parents are doing anything at the kitchen counter. She's a little wary of new people but if you take it slow, she'll give you her heart and follow you around the house like your biggest fan.

Cindy is eligible for the senior-for-seniors program, so her adoption fee is waived for any adopter over age 60!"

"When McNugget first arrived at Pasadena Humane, he was scared of his own shadow. This little guy would hide in the back of his kennel and break our hearts.

Thankfully, he has started to show us all the fun-loving dogs he can be. He adores running around in the yard, jumping into the pool, and then happily shaking off all the water on any unsuspecting staff and volunteers.

McNugget is also an exceptional student. He has mastered a few tricks and is eager to learn more. This guy just wants to please, but he’s also happy to get a treat for a reward.

"Rosie is relatively quiet, especially compared to other louder breeds of cockatoo. He will talk and can scream if stressed. He is used to going to sleep quietly at night and is not used to having his cage covered.

He is okay with our piano playing (in another room), and he also seems to co-exist well with very calm and respectful dogs and cats. I do not recommend him for young kids because of his propensity to bite unless your kids are great at following directions and very respectful around pets. He has learned to target train and will also step up on myself and my husband (now that he's known us for several months).

Rosie can say words like "hello," "hi," "what's going on," and "pretty bird," and he loves to talk to people he feels comfortable with. Because Rosie can be territorial with his cage, he can bite hard if you reach into his cage. However, he does really enjoy being a pet when it's on his terms (he shows this by bending over so you know it's safe) and talking! He loves being in the same room as his people and will make some alarm sounds if he's left alone.

His favorite treats are almonds, walnuts, grapes and blueberries. He had a recent health check-up by an avian vet and looks to be very healthy!"

Meet Mr. Brown, the silliest boy in town.

"This adorable creature has had a ruff go but is feeling so great about starting his new life. Just like any grouchy old man, he doesn't see or hear well and claims to be very independent but secretly needs all of your love. He will lean into scritches that he claims he doesn't want and would love nothing more to snuggle into your lap for a long snooze (although he will just pretend he ended up there on accident).

Here are some notes from his foster: Mr. Brown lights up every room he waddles into. He's friendly, peppy, affectionate, engaging, spunky, and charms everyone who lays eyes on him (or happens to hear him; his grunts and snorts are equal parts endearing and hilarious).

Though he is a portly fellow, he's surprisingly spry and not only enjoys going for strolls outside but can play fetch for as long as you're willing to toss a little stuffed toy. He's a very polite fetch partner, albeit a bit slow, and will chase and return toys for as long as you're willing to toss them.

Mr. Brown is quite housetrained, availing himself of both a dog door and a p*e pad. He eats voraciously and eats cheese-wrapped pills eagerly. Mr. Brown does take a pill three times a day, but it's so easy to give him those pills that it feels more like an opportunity to give him a treat three times a day (which he obviously deserves because he's the best).

"Sara is definitely a little shy but once she's warmed up to you, she will literally binky when you walk in the room and will constantly come to you for cuddles. And you probably won't mind, her shiny black fur is super soft--she's got a bit of white just at the tip of her nose! ❤️

Sara is also adorably vocal. When feeding her or letting her out to play, she makes soft honking noises to express her excitement. If she's unhappy with something, she's not afraid to do a few thumps so she can express her opinion. Sarh would probably love a home where she could sit and hang out with her hoomans. She likes to flop under my chair while I'm at my desk, and she hops onto my bed and sits next to me for pats while I read or watch TV.

I think Sara's going to have an incredible bond with her forever family!
