This Fidex User Meeting is our third conference after 2015 in Pleasanton, CA and 2016 in Prague, CZ, and our fourth get-together including a 2013 workshop. The conference is for those interested in veterinary cone beam CT, in particular using the Fidex machine. While the name of the conference is User Meeting, attendees do not have to have access to a Fidex scanner, but have interest in the clinical application of the instrument and its technology.

As the clinical use of Fidex has grown a great deal in the past years due to a growing number of users and technical improvements, it seems useful to report to all on standard and special applications in the veterinary imaging field. There will be a focus on iodine contrast scanning to better image soft tissue, sprinkled with the latest engineering implementations designed to cover more indications, and make it easier for the operator to obtain diagnostic quality results. A highlight will be a colloquium held by two renowned veterinary radiologists. Plenty to learn, meet colleagues, and start discussions by presenting a case.

Registration: kindly register with the Organizing Committee through [email protected]. The registration fee for regular attendees is €200 to help with financing the conference. Spouses are free and welcome to all presentations and events. Technicians may register at €100 per attendee. And please note: presenters of case studies will attend free of charge.

Who should attend?
This Conference and Workshop is for all veterinarians and veterinary technicians interested in the use of Cone Beam CT, in particular FIDEX.
Newcomers will learn how to get the most out of the technology. Expert users will have an opportunity to refresh their techniques as well as present and discuss interesting cases. Clinic owners, surgeons, specialists, hospital administrators and technicians will get valuable insights into the use of Fidex in the veterinary environment.
Lectures cover mainly practical aspects of CT scanning, including presentation of the updated Clinical Users Guide. The hands-on workshops will cover CT scanning at Bila-Hora Clinic, and Fluoroscopy at the clinic in Slany (a short drive from Prague). There will be ample time to discuss scan techniques and cases.

Case of the Month: July 2015

Brain tumor imaged with Fidex

Radiology review:
CBCT scan of the skull, pre and post contrast, good image quality.

Description:
A bone resorption area around the tooth root of the incisor III on right maxillary arch. The remaining
dental structures is usual appearance. The nasal cavities are normal.
At the level of the brain, a mass intra-axial of diameter of 1.8 cm was noted in the left parietal lobe.
This mass is well defined post contrast, certainly has a hypodense necrotic center. Mass effect is visible on the center line which is deflected to the right through almost all its length and on the left lateral ventricle which is compressed. The cerebellum seems still in place. The ears are normal. Retropharyngeal lymph nodes are normal.

CONCLUSION:
1. intra-axial brain tumor compatible with a glioma, astrocytoma or olidendrogliome. High compression of
the structures of the left cerebral hemisphere is associated.
2. Abscess I3 on the right maxillary.
The above conclusions are based on personal interpretation of the radiologist, as well as information
provided by the attending veterinarians. In case of differences between your clinical impression and conclusions

Big Success for Animage-sponsored CBCT Conference May 1 – 2, 2015

With attendees from all over the world, and speakers selected from Fidex users, imaging specialist and scientists, the Conference was a highly welcomed educational event.



Highlights included a presentation by Drs Hnizdo and Rigori of the completely revise Clinical Users Guide (link needed), 15 case presentations by Drs Scordino, Bicanova and Vedrine, a wealth of application reports ranging from iodine contrast optimization in large dogs to advanced cardiac interventions using FIDEX Fluoroscopy by Dr Fiedler. Valuable background information was given by Stetson Hallowell about the pat. pend. ABC™ synchronized ventilator which virtually eliminated motion artifacts in Fidex scans. Dr Geiger gave insight on the proper use of mylography, and Dr Dosch presented the needs of the surgeon and how Fidex fulfills them. Stent setting, scientific applications as pursued by Brown University, talks about dose in CBCT scanning, DICOM, data handling and artifact reduction rounded out two days of intense lecturing, training, discussion and fun at this conference in Pleasanton.
