At the last Rotary Club of Plymouth meeting President Elect Neha Markanda continued leading a discussion about a strategic plan for the club in the new year. Sharon Bloodworth, incoming District 5950 District Governor was a special guest at the discussion and received a bouquet of flowers for her involvement and input!
Here's another great example of the difference the Rotary Club of Plymouth is making each and every day in the Plymouth community. The club was proud to present a $1,500 check that will go toward helping youth in the area attend the YMCA Camp Christmas Tree. The check was presented to Dave Grote of the YMCA by Neha Markanda and Jim Crenna of the Rotary Club of Plymouth.

Rotary Club of Plymouth President Elect for 2024-25 Neha Markanda began sharing a strategic plan for the club going forward at the last meeting on June 13th. Special Rotary guests at the meeting included Sharon Bloodworth, incoming District 5950 Governor and Tom Gump, Assistant to incoming RI President Stephanie Urchick. Don't miss the June 20th meeting as more of the strategic plan will be discussed.
The Thursday, June 13th Rotary Club of Plymouth meeting will feature a presentation of thoughts regarding the strategic direction of the club from Neha Markanda, Club President Elect for 2024-25. Special guests at the meeting will include Sharon Bloodworth, District 5950 Governor for 2024-25 and Tom Gump, aide to the 2024-25 Rotary International President.
It was a day of showing immense appreciation at the last Rotary Club of Plymouth meeting! Club President James Williams handed out awards to a number of individuals who helped to make the last Rotary Club year so special! Congratulations to all of those who were honored and thank you for your service to the Plymouth community!
A very generous donation was made to the Plymouth Rotary Foundation that will go towards the ongoing efforts of the HeartSafe Plymouth Program. The donation was delivered by Gary Schweitzer on behalf of the Bass Lake pickleball players in the city of Plymouth.
It will be a meeting full of appreciation and gratitude presentations as the Rotary Club of Plymouth gets back together on Thursday, June 6th at noon! After a few weeks off at the end of May, the group will gather once again at the Plymouth Community Center to be led through some heartfelt presentations by club President James Williams. Don't miss this opportunity to celebrate some of the great achievements of the past year for the club!
Hats off to the Heart Safe Plymouth training team as they wrapped up their May training sessions with 7,898 individuals trained on AED/CPR response. The Heart Safe Team is a true shining example of the ongoing impact that the Rotary Club of Plymouth has in the community.
The Eli Hart Memorial Playground took another step towards construction after the last Rotary Club of Plymouth Meeting. Tiffany Beitler from the Eli Hart Foundation and Tom Venable from the Mound Westonka Rotary presented details about the playground to be built as a rotary partner project at Surfside Park on the shores of Lake Minnetonka. At the end of the meeting the Plymouth Club was pleased to make a sizeable donation to the project. Stop by the Rotary Club of Plymouth meeting at noon this Thursday for the inside story on Rotary partnering project with the Mound Westonka Rotary Club plus a number of other clubs in District 5950. Tiffany Beitler from the Eli Hart Foundation and Tom Venable, a member of Mound Westonka Rotary will be the presenters. The project involves a playground to be built at Surfside Park which is on the shores of Lake Minnetonka. Hope to see you on Thursday at the Plymouth Community Center!
The Rotary Club of Plymouth continued its support of the Future Roots Project / Raices del Futuro by presenting a check to the organization in early May. Future Roots President Jamie Belden stopped by to accept the check which came at a perfect time as she will soon hop on a plane to head back to Central America. That is where the organization improves the lives of people living in impoverished communities through teacher training and creative and health initiatives.
A very special thanks to Can Do Canines Development Director Shelia Ross for speaking at the last Rotary Club of Plymouth meeting. She gave a thorough overview of the very unique types of assistance dogs that are trained ranging from Mobility Assist Dogs, to Seizure Assist Dogs, to Hearing Assist Dogs and much more. This Thursday the Rotary Club of Plymouth will go to the dogs...actually the canines as in Can Do Canines! We hope that you can stop by and learn more about this amazing organization that is based right next door in New Hope. Come hear some of the stories that highlight the ways these highly trained and incredibly loved dogs make a huge difference. The meeting takes place on Thursday, May 9th at noon at the Plymouth Community Center.
It was a celebration of scholarship winners at the most recent Rotary Club of Plymouth meeting. Congratulations to the four students from Wayzata High School and one student from Providence Academy who will have some extra financial assistance in hand as they head off to college next year. The current scholarship program began in 1996-97. Including this year's students, the club has invested in 174 students totaling $222,000 in scholarship funds! A big thank you to Shawn and his Scholarship Committee for their outstanding work throughout the process!
Members of the Rotary Club of Plymouth are now completely up to date on the city of Plymouth thanks to the recent presentation by Mayor Jeff Wosje. His special talk on May 2nd included many points from his 2024 State of the City speech. Highlights included many accomplishments from the past year and projects that are already underway in 2024.
It's your opportunity to hear about The State of the City of Plymouth at the next Rotary Club of Plymouth Meeting. We hope to see you at noon on Thursday, May 2nd at the Plymouth Community Center to hear the presentation from Plymouth Mayor Jeff Wosje. In addition, recipients of the Clubs Scholarships for this year have been invited to attend the meeting and be recognized for their achievement!
