We have a changing of the guard in one of our longest-running businesses in the Plymouth Community. Lou LaRiche Chevrolet is now LaFontaine Chevrolet. We thank and wish Scott LaRiche and his family the best in their retirement after serving our community through two generations and over fifty years.

We also welcome the LaFontaine family and are glad to see they are already getting involved in becoming an integral part of the Plymouth community.

Lou LaRiche, the long-time Plymouth-based Chevrolet dealer and active community member, passed away Thursday. He purchased Allison Chevrolet in 1970. The dealership was located north of the railroad tracks on Main Street, and Lou LaRiche Chevrolet moved to its current location on Plymouth Road in 1972.

The community was important to Lou! He was a Plymouth Rotarian, where he volunteered year after year at the Fall Festival chicken barbeque—even though he absolutely despised chicken! He was also a member of Legatus International of Ann Arbor and the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (serving as president of the Detroit Auto Show in 1985).

The covered pavilion at the Miracle League field is named for Lou and Gail LaRiche as a tribute to all the couple has generously contributed to the community for decades. The dealership and family have supported many charities and community events, touching people throughout our area.

Lou LaRiche Chevrolet thrives today in Plymouth Township under the leadership of his son Scott. The Chamber of Commerce recognized the dealership in March as the Plymouth Large Business of the Year for their continued support of our community. The legacy Lou LaRiche leaves is evident in the business he built and the countless contributions he made throughout this area.
