What does a jet thruster do?
The Jet Thruster pump draws water thru a 3" or 4" intake on the bottom of the boat, fitted with an isolation ball valve. The powerful pump generates a large water flow, directed thru flexible reinforced rubber hoses by proprietary electro-motive valves.

How often does a vessel need a tune up?

Boat Motor Repair- How Often? If you use your boat year-round, plan on a tune-up at least twice per year. Though, preferably once every two to three months if you use your motor often. The more you use the motor, the more maintenance it will need. We will be happy to help you with any service of your vessel here at EC Ruff Marine.

How Often Should You Service Your Vessel?

We recommend professionally servicing your boat once a year, regardless of how much you use it. If you choose not to have a full service done yearly, at a bare minimum, make sure you have a professional inspect and overhaul your engine. For a marine petrol engine every 1,500 running hours, and for marine diesel engine every 5,000 running hours. Feel free to call us for service or repairs on your vessel today.

Would you like to know how to troubleshoot a Bow Thruster?

Start with checking the battery voltage. One of the most common causes of thruster-related issues is having insufficient power from the battery to run the thruster. Be sure to check the voltage of the battery or batteries powering the thruster, while someone is attempting to run the thruster for 10 seconds. Do you know what makes a Bow Thruster loud?

The most common cause of noise in a tunnel thruster is cavitation. Cavitation, in the context of a bow or stern thruster, is bubbles mixing with the water as it passes through tunnel. Feel free to call us if your interested in learning more, or need your vessel serviced.

How to choose the right windlass for your boat

There are four main considerations when selecting the correct windlass for your boat. One, the size of the windlass that is best for your boat. Two, how much rope will fit into your locker by gravity. There has to be a free and clear area under the hawse pipe for the incoming rope. Three, the size of the rope/chain splice. Finally, how much pulling power your windlass should have.
