THIS is why as stylists we stress to you that we create a maintenance plan for your hair and we pre book your appointments! my client saw another stylist only 1 time and it turned into a 4 hour blonding correction (I want to stress to you this WAS NOT the client's fault AT ALL)

👉🏼FULL baby lights using Redken flash lift w Metal detox prep spray.... (baby lights are the best way to break through this type of uneven lift and banding) I then tipped out her ends with teasy lights to create more lived in brightness and to balance the overall blonde.

👉🏼This client loves a bright, sunny blonde, I typically don't need to tone her, but obviously it was necessary at this appointment to remove any leftover unwanted yellow, used redken shades NA, P and sheered it out by adding a little clear to avoid over deposit.

⚠️Color corrections are never perfect in 1 visit but over time we will go back to a less is more approach and allow her natural tone to become her "lowlight"

‼️This is why it's so important that as a stylist we know what your hair looks like before you book. We may need 2-5 hrs depending on the condition and color of your hair. If you call the salon and book an appointment for a highlight, it is not going to be enough time for a corrective color appt‼️

Redken and John Paul Mitchell said it's because these are "diverted" products. Diversion occurs when products are sold in "unauthorized" places. Genuine Redken and Paul Mitchell products are sold only in authorized salons and spas.
So, whose diverting the products?
According to Redken, "products are diverted by
unauthorized distributors and salons or their
employees, plus other dishonest individuals who see profit in piracy."
It's perfectly legal, but the hair care companies don't like it.
A spokesperson for Redken said, "When you come across our products in a mass market retail outlet or drug store, these products are considered diverted and you may be at risk by purchasing them."

Why should consumers care?
"Anytime that you see a product there, it could actually be dangerous to the consumer," Hutt said.
You also have no way of knowing how long a diverted product has been sitting in a warehouse before it goes to the store shelf.
"It could be counterfeit, it could be old, could be diluted, could be expired, could even cause irritations," Hutt said.
Redken's website lists "unauthorized" outlets as "any discount store, drugstore, or grocery store."

Calling potential BLONDE unicorns 🦄
Getting your dream blonde doesn't start with the right hair stylist. (It helps, trust me. But that comes later)
It starts with YOU at home!
Here are some tips and tricks to help get you to unicorn status
• TOP
1. DO NOT use box color!
You would think this is a no brainer, but you'd be surprised Maybe it's a hard pill to swallow, but doing an at home
"root touch up" still counts. Box dying 2 years ago STILL COUNTS. I'm not saying you won't get blonde if you have done this, but crappy things can happen if you did-lifting to orange is your least concern, though. Hair melting is a possibility.
2. Take extra care of your locks prior to a lightening service. #3 is a great place to start.
3. If your hair looks like it has a ton of flyaways or is frizzy, that might mean the cuticle of your hair is raised. That's NOT GOOD when it comes to toning you to the perfect blonde. If your cuticle is raised, your toner won't last as long. Go easy on the hot tools and blow dryer, as well and rinsing in cool water are the easiest ways to calm the hair. Or you might need a good trim with surface cutting
4. Come to the salon with clean, dry hair.
TOO often clients will say "i know it's better to have dirty hair." Well, this isn't always the case. For on the scalp bleach, yes- not squeaky clean hair is good because the oils from your scalp will help protect it from the lightener. But, for balayage, foils, babylights etc, hair free from oils or product buildup is key
5. If you have hard water, try clarifying shampoos or hard water treatments to rid your hair of mineral deposits. Doing this will help with "brass" both before and after color services (ask your stylist how long you should wait after a color to try)
6. If your natural hair is a level 6 or darker, the upkeep is going to be more than your friend who is a natural blonde.
Toning shampoos, actual toning services etc might be in your future.
7. Remember, your stylist has your hair for 2 hours but YOU have it all the time!
Sure, we can make your blonde look pretty fantastic, but it's your job to keep it that way between appointments. Ask your stylist how😘🦄
