Reading with the Rays is back for the 17th season! 📚⚾️ We kicked off this year’s program by throwing out the first pitch and hosting a special reading event with Rays player Jose Caballero at the Trop!

Reading with the Rays—Read Your Way to the Ballpark is an incentive-based reading program that encourages Pre-K to 12th grade students to avoid summer learning loss by reading for 24 hours during the summer months. Over the weekend, our employee resource group BLACC headed down south for their Black Business Brunch.

This educational networking event focused on providing small businesses with the tools and knowledge needed to secure funding and grow. The event featured various financial experts, community leaders, and offered a fantastic opportunity to connect with local business owners. We hope to host more events like this in the future!

We are taking applications for the Chamber’s globally recognized Minority Business Accelerator program! The next information session will be held on June 12th at Suncoast Credit Union located on East Hillsborough Avenue.

This program is designed to aid Black and Hispanic businesses prepare for growth. The MBA helps these businesses identify and overcome barriers, which often include limited access to capital, key decision makers, and information. By providing practical tools for change, program participants are positioned to increase capacity, create jobs, and build wealth.

FAMILY FUN 🎉🧡 We had an amazing time celebrating the end of the school year with over 500 families from Deep Creek Elementary School! These students worked hard all year, and it was wonderful to see them come together with their families for some well-deserved fun. Students even had the opportunity to choose a free book from Lizzy the Literacy Bus to enjoy over the summer! 📚

We were moved by the dedication of our team members as they collaborated across departments for a special volunteer opportunity! Our team spent the day with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida where they prepared meals for families staying at the home. After a long day at the hospital, these home-cooked meals provide crucial support to parents who are caring for their sick children. When we come together for a greater good, the impact can be life changing. 🧡
