I’ll never forget the tragedy of 1967, when my friends Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffee were lost in the capsule fire. I think of the quote ‘ad astra per aspera’ meaning “through hardships to the stars.” We remember them today, as they did not perish in vain.
