11 Places to Get Bed Bugs

A saying goes, “There are two types of homes. Those that have had bed bugs and those that will get bed bugs “. The sad thing is, that bed bugs are everywhere these days. Just leaving the house can cause bed bugs to infest our homes. Since these pests are everywhere, today, we will help you identify 11 Places to get Bed Bugs.

1) You Can Get Bed Bugs from Restaurants
Going out to dinner can lead to these bugs feeding on you at home. There have been many news reports about people being bitten while eating at their favorite eating establishment. These critters will leave the clothing, backpacks, and pocketbooks of previous occupants of a restaurant seat.

Just recently, an article appeared in the Hawaii Tribune-Herald about bedbugs biting a patron. According to this article, eight bedbugs were captured from four booths along the restaurant's back wall.

2) You Can Get Bed Bugs from Churches
Places of worship are no strangers to bed bug infestations. When people have bedbugs at home, frequently, these buggers will hitch a ride. Then, when the person sits or kneels, the bedbugs can leave and start a new nest. Sadly, when new people sit in the same area, they may be bitten by these blood-sucking pests. And some may even attach themselves to your clothing or bags so they can go home with you to create a new nest.

3) You Can Get Bed Bugs from the Gym
Something so harmless as placing your belongings into a gym locker may cause an infestation in your home. These pests can hide and wait until they have something to climb into to be transported elsewhere. The chairs and workout equipment can also have bugs from a person who unknowingly brought them from their home.

4) You Can Get Bed Bugs from the Office
Chairs, desks, and common areas of an office have been known to have them. Just like the gym, people can quickly bring these bugs to work. Then, when a coworker sits in an infested area, they begin experiencing bites as these pests feed. It is easy to spread an infestation throughout an office as people share chairs, desks, and more.

5) You Can Get Bed Bugs from Movie Theaters
Movie theaters are a prime location for breading bugs. Since these pests prefer nocturnal, a dark theater is a perfect place to feed on unsuspecting moviegoers. These bugs will nest all around the seat. Then, as the movie plays and you enjoy your popcorn, the bedbugs feed upon you and your family.

6) You Can Get Bed Bugs from Hotels
Most people are aware of hotels being a problem with this bug. But many are unaware these pests can nest in more than the bed. You can find them behind the headboard, in the nightstands, chairs, and even the couches. The bed bugs are not limited to just the guest rooms. You will also find them infesting the chairs in the dining areas and the lounges.

7) You Can Get Bed Bugs from Schools
Lice are generally the first pest people think of when they think of pests in schools. Sadly, bedbugs are also commonplace in our learning facilities. It is so commonplace for a school to have an infestation that the University of Minnesota has “Guidelines for Dealing with Bed Bugs in a School Setting.”

8) You Can Get Bed Bugs from Daycares
Just like schools, daycares are a hot spot for bed bugs. It is so easy for these pests to be brought into the facility. Then, when toys are shared or stored in the storage areas, these bugs can hitch a ride home. Bedbugs have been known to climb into any item a child brings to daycare. And there are times when this pest will feed on the children while at the facility.

9) You Can Get Bed Bugs from Public transportation
Let us remember another huge way to get an infestation. Just riding the bus, taking a taxi, or even riding the train may cause a bedbug problem at home. These bloodsuckers will wait until a food source comes near their nesting area. They will feed and even hitch a ride there in briefcases, pocketbooks, coats, pant cuffs, and more.

10) You Can Get Bed Bugs from Waiting Rooms
Yes, waiting rooms are also known to have bedbugs, not all waiting rooms, but some. Waiting for your tire repair, you can be exposed to bedbugs. At the dentist, you may be exposed again.

11) You Can Get Bed Bugs from Concert Halls
Listening to your favorite comedian, band, or solo act may put you near nesting bugs. Like movie theaters, the dark concert hall is the perfect place to feed upon those enjoying the show. These bugs will nest all around the seat.

In Conclusion
As you can see, you Can Get bed bugs from about anywhere people go or congregate. These bugs can be found in restaurants, places of worship, gyms, offices, waiting rooms, bars, hospitals, schools, and many more. The problem can quickly spread as soon as a person with an infestation brings a tagged along bedbug, the problem can quickly spread. Then, when we go about our daily lives, we come in contact with these critters that will not only feed upon us, but also they will attempt to come home with us and start a new nest.

While these bugs can be found in all the places we discussed and more. If possible, check for the bugs before you sit. That is the best way to prevent getting bit or bringing them home.
