With most new mechanical systems in place, the interior of our community is taking shape. Loving these extra high ceilings and windows that let so much light into our single room homes.
Our women’s recovery community will be located within this former school that is being completely rehabilitated while maintaining historic elements in a beautiful neighborhood.

Our transformation is well underway and includes new mechanical, electrical, plumbing and high efficiency heating and cooling. We will have 38 single room occupancy units on three floors. Each floor contains common gathering and cooking areas. Completion is expected late 2021.
Freedom Place will reside in the former St. Dominic's School, next to the former St. Dominic's Church, now the Maine Irish Heritage Center.
Our services for women experiencing homelessness, addiction and related challenges are provided by Amistad, carrying on their mission started over 30 years ago:
"We help those with mental illness, substance use disorder, chronic homelessness, and related issues to recover and lead healthy lives.
We do this by fostering community among our members, by seeking to expand our peer services to reach more people in need, by advocating for more and better healthcare availability, and through our belief in the inherent potential of each individual and our respect for a meaningful consumer voice."
