In response to the messages received regarding the status of Peak Recovery due to recent social media posts, we wanted to take this opportunity to clarify the situation and update the community.

After assessing all available options due to the difficulty and expense of obtaining appropriate liability insurance for splitboarding, rock climbing, and mountaineering that adequately protects participants and the Alano Club of Portland, the Board of Directors voted to discontinue the Peak Recovery program in its current formation. This resulted in the elimination of the employment positions under the Peak Recovery program — including the Program Director and Coordinator — which resulted in two layoffs.

We wish both employees the best in their future endeavors and hope to have an update for you soon on the future of Peak Recovery programming.

We are thrilled to announce an incredible opportunity to win a dinner for six at one of the most celebrated restaurants in the country, kann!

Named Best New Restaurant in America by the James Beard Foundation and recognized as one of the country's best restaurants by Esquire, the New York Times and others, kann is a dining experience unlike any other in the country.

Thanks to the generosity of Alano Board Member and Chef and Founder, Gregory Gourdet, and the Kann team, we are raffling off a complimentary dinner for six and March reservation at kann! This includes a full meal for six guests including a spirited or zero proof beverage tasting, compliments of and kann, with service fee to be paid compliments of the Alano Club of Portland.

kann is a live-fire restaurant from James Beard Award winning chef Gregory Gourdet. The restaurant honors his heritage and culture while also honoring the seasons and local ingredients of Oregon. The name kann ("cane" in Haitian Creole) is a tribute to one of Chef Gregory’s favorite childhood memories in Haiti, where he'd listen for sugar cane vendors to come by with wheelbarrows overflowing with the freshly-harvested snack. That memory and more are the inspiration behind the menu that showcases traditional Haitian flavors along with new dishes inspired by the cuisines of the African & Caribbean diaspora. Barbeque originated in Haiti and that spirit of open fire cooking helps anchor the cuisine at kann.

Date to be a mutually agreed upon reservation in March. Raffle winner will be notified January 2nd and reservation must be made by January 25th.

Check the QR code in the second slide and the links in our bio and stories for more details on how to enter!
