If you have salaried employees on your payroll, it's critical that you periodically check to make sure that you are compliant with state and federal regulations. One important regulation that changed recently is the minimum annual compensation requirement for exempt workers, which is scheduled to increase this year and again at the start of 2025.

Beginning July 1, 2024, the annual base salary threshold for “white-collar” workers to be considered exempt from overtime will increase to $43,888 ($844 a week). On January 1, 2025, that threshold will increase to $58,656 ($1,128 a week). Salaried employees who do not meet these thresholds will need to have their pay adjusted or be converted to non-exempt hourly employees eligible for overtime.
