OpConnect Introduces Plug-N-Play Network Connected Stations
Portland, Oregon – January 7, 2020 - OpConnect announced today shipping of its Plug-N-Play OCPP enabled network stations. This technology provides the next step in network charging technology by allowing stations to be installed and activated by any licensed electrician without commissioning.
“This is an important step in saving installation costs for our customers”, said Dexter Turner, OpConnect CEO. “No longer will installing networked stations require costly commissioning by the manufacturer or a certified installer. Just like many devices we use every day, when the station is first powered up it will identify itself on the network and the customer will be in business.”
This technology reflects OpConnect’s continued push to improve the customer experience and help reduce all costs associated with EV Charging. “The more cost saving innovation we can bring to market,” continued Turner, “The more EV infrastructure we can get deployed, which will help accelerate EV adoption.”
The feature is available today in all OpConnect connected stations, including its OCPP enabled 40, 50, 80 and 100 Amp rated units, designed for passenger and fleet vehicle applications.
OpConnect’s network technology is designed to accommodate multi-family, workplace, public and fleet applications. The network supports Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP), allowing its customers to avoid vendor lock and having a choice of OCPP hardware available on the market today.

OpConnect Now Shipping High Powered AC Level 2 OCCP Connected Fleet Charge Station
Portland, Oregon – November 19, 2019 - OpConnect has begun shipping of an Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) enabled SAE J1772TM 19 kW Level 2 charging station, a perfect solution for school buses and other medium duty fleet trucks. The station combines the best in class backend from OpConnect, combined with the proven charger hardware to provide the highest power networked Level 2 charger available.
The station, the highest power rated L2 EV charging station available, gives fleet operators a perfect low-cost solution to keep their fleet on the road. The OCPP connection provides the fleet operator additional comfort knowing he/she can manage and track the charging load to minimize energy costs.
“This is a great solution for many fleets,” said Dexter Turner, OpConnect CEO. “High power AC charging allows fleets to avoid the high cost of DC charging while still providing short enough charge times to manage their charging, while minimizing energy costs.”
OpConnect’s solution allows fleet operators to manage their load through OpConnect’s dashboard, through API ports, or through direct communicate with the stations through the OCPP enabled interface.
“It’s an exciting time for fleets as more and more plug-in fleet vehicles are coming to market and the technology is reaching cost parity with conventionally fueled vehicles and the reduced maintenance and fuel costs are making EVs a more attractive solution for fleet operators.” added Dexter.
OpConnect’s network technology is designed to accommodate multifamily, workplace, public and fleet applications. The network is fully OCPP enabled, allowing its customers to avoid vendor lock and having a choice of OCPP hardware available on the market today.

Surf’s up! The first networked ClipperCreek HCS40 charger on the OpConnect network went live today at Kahekili Beach Park in Maui, Hawaii. The first user of the charger showed up in his Nissan Leaf with a surf board strapped to the roof, ready for his day at the beach and a ride home in his fully charged EV.
OpConnect has developed a network client kit, which can be added to a standard ClipperCreek HCS40 level 2 chargers to transform the unit into a smart, connected charger with an attractive price point. This makes the HCS40N an excellent solution for many charging needs, such as workplace, multi-family and public parking.

When it comes to how we fuel our cars and trucks, America is standing at an inflection point. The electrification of our system of personal transport, which for many years was little more than a visionary theory, is now in its initial stages of design and implementation; with the right policies, the bulk of our passenger vehicles could shift from being fueled by oil and gas, to being powered by electricity.
