The Revolutionary Alcohol Reset
I help creative humans struggling with burnout take a break from booze & reignite their spark. ✨ All are welcome. 🏳️🌈
LGBTQIA+ celebrated. 🏳️⚧️
Diversity.
I am a Certified Mindset Coach helping creative humans jumpstart their burnout recovery by taking a supported break from alcohol. ✨ My coaching program is The Revolutionary Reset. Equity. Justice for all. 🏴☠️
It means *so much* to me to get this feedback from my wonderful client, Linda. 🥰
Bucking the STIGMA out there that causes so many of us to feel shame is my #1 REASON for becoming a coach! It’s why I’m out here, shouting my story from the rooftops. 🙌
Because stigma & shame held me back for years… and that narrative is TOTAL. NONSENSE.
Alcohol is addictive to human beings.
Not “some” human beings…
➡️ All of ‘em.
If you’re drinking more than you’d like to, or even just more than you *used* to… it doesn’t mean that you’re broken or *different* than other drinkers… it doesn’t mean that you lack “self-control”…
It just means that you’re *human*
Providing a safe, non-judgmental space for my clients like Linda to share their stories and build awareness of the unique factors that are holding them back…
Means we can make a straightforward plan for progress – to move past areas of stuckness” – and achieve each individual’s goals.
➡️ F #%! THE STIGMA, y’all.
➡️ Just follow the science.
…the science leads the way. And I’d love to share the map when you’re ready to get started. 🗺️
DM me with “I’M READY” and I’ll send you info and options.
Let’s do this.

If you’re tired of trying and *failing* to cut back on your drinking, please know:
💗 You are not alone.
Drinking alcohol isn’t like other habits or hobbies… the chemical-chain-reaction from booze actually hacks into your body’s natural survival system! It messes with your hard-wiring. 🧠
If you’ve tried to cut back, take a break, or even quit… know that EVERY SINGLE attempt has provided you with valuable insight and INFORMATION that we can use moving forward!!
JUST THINK: What if this next time it really sticks!?
👉 You’re not starting from scratch.
👉 You’re starting from experience.
Our thoughts and beliefs about alcohol are ultimately driving our behavior, and AWARENESS IS KEY!
Once you understand *why* you’re drinking…
And once you understand *what* alcohol is doing behind the scenes…
You step into empowered CHOICE about your drinking.
Naturally. Easefully.
➡️ Your challenge today:
In the moments just before you reach for that drink, take a moment to ask yourself: “What am I looking for?”
-Are you hoping to relax or unwind?
-Celebrate or connect?
-Clock out at the end of the day??
Once you gain clarity on the thoughts and beliefs driving you to reach for that drink, you can start to shift them!
By using neuroplasticity & the power of mindfulness, you can practice NEW THOUGHTS to encourage NEW BEHAVIOR.
It sometimes sounds too good to be true.
It sometimes feels like magic.
But it’s backed by science,
And it really works.

The power of neuroplasticity can't be overstated:
🧠 We’re shaping our minds with every thought, every decision, every single day.
That means it's possible to change patterns and develop new mindsets, new skills, and new abilities by CHANGING OUR THOUGHTS!! 🤩
👉 You don’t have a DRINKING PROBLEM.
👉 You have a THINKING PROBLEM.
Our thoughts & beliefs about alcohol keep us stuck drinking more
than we want to...
So, if you try to change your behavior and take a break from booze without first adjusting your mindset... this is what lands you in the realm of deprivation and FOMO.
THE GOOD NEWS?
You can rewire those thoughts & beliefs! By harnessing the power of mindfulness and “neuroplasticity”...
NEUROPLASTICITY is your brain’s ability to actually CHANGE based on learning and patterns!
My RESET Framework guides you step-by-step through the process of rewiring your thoughts & beliefs about alcohol...
So you can drink less with ease.

Thank you for this beautifully accurate, wonderfully messy breakdown 🌈 🙌
A weekend wish for you.
Alcohol was my tool to “power through” the days… it helped me keep a strong upper lip.
…but it also kept me from softening into deep rest, and prevented me from listening to my limits.
This is an invitation to anyone in the game of hustle—to remember to make time for rest.
True. rest.

Growing up in the 80’s & 90’s was wild.
Sandwiched in-between The Muppets and MTV… my formative years were defined by radical weirdness… and media.
As a nerdy kid in a small town, TV was my steadfast companion. 📺
The messages we receive when we’re young leave a lasting impression. And the general attitude that I absorbed when it came to “drugs and alcohol” went something like:
➡️ Drugs are bad.
🚫 Just say no.
➡️ Alcohol is normal.
🙅♀️ Just don’t be an Alcoholic.
And that part in there… the “alcohol is normal” part… proved particularly insidious.
Booze was everywhere, and it was part of life.
…but if you did it “wrong”… if you didn’t “drink responsibly”…
Well, that was clearly your fault.
The general consensus in our society has seemed [for my entire life, at least] to promote the consumption of alcoholic beverages as part of normal, everyday life. …and yet *simultaneously* demonized those who find themselves drinking “too much” or ::gasp:: become ADDICTED to this addictive substance.
🚨 NEWS FLASH 🚨
This positioning of “normal drinker” vs “problem drinker” is outdated!
The term “alcoholic” isn’t used in the medical realm. The DSM refers to Alcohol Use Disorder, which reflects a broad spectrum of use. (…and the criteria for AUD is remarkably achievable… I encourage a quick google search if you’re curious.)
There’s a ton of scientific evidence that points towards a new perspective when it comes to alcohol use. …but society hasn’t quite caught up yet.
Slowlyyyy, we’re starting to see more commercials for non-alcoholic beer, and zero-proof spirits are making their way through social channels.
The scales of advertising are starting to tip… and so is the conversation. ⚖️
❤️🔥 TAKE IT FROM ME ❤️🔥
You don’t have to be an alcoholic.
You don’t have to wait for rock bottom.
You don’t even have to commit to FOREVER!
There’s a whole new way.
A gentle, compassionate way.

Y’all. 🔥 This is something I really WISH I’d known sooner. 🤦♀️
Most people don’t know that even just drinking a few times a week can raise baseline levels of stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline…
This means that—even when you’re not actively drinking—the stress in your body is elevated. 🤯
👉 It’s harsh… but it’s true.
👉 And the IRONY for me, when I learned this, was staggering. Here I’d been drinking to COPE with stress… for over a decade… unknowingly making my stress and anxiety WORSE as a result.
Looking back, I know I was doing the best I could with the tools I had… but, man… I could’ve used some better tools. 😅
If you’re drinking to cope with stress & anxiety like I was, please know that there’s hope.
I get it. I’ve been there. …and rest assured there’s a better way.
The experience of recovering from my own burnout and exhaustion… kick-started by a mindful break from booze… is what’s inspired my new Spring Course!

And the bank account is just the beginning!
I went to a show last night at a big concert hall downtown… one of my favorite comedians.
And not only did I *NOT* spend $14 on what was probably a disappointing plastic cup of wine…
[and, let’s be honest, I probably would’ve had two] 💸
But I didn’t have to worry about downing it before the show started. Didn’t have to feel distracted by the feeling of “wanting one more” when the lights went down.
I didn’t have to leave the show partway through to use the restroom. OR wait in the monstrous line immediately afterwards. 🚶♀️🚶♀️🚶♀️… .
It was so freeing!
The money saved is awesome. …but I gained so much more.
-I had a fun night out.
-Let myself get swept into lightness & laughter.
-Felt safe and confident getting into my car to drive home.
-Laid my head on the pillow feeling clear-headed and content…
-And then I slept like a baby.
This feeling of life alcohol-free is so good in so many ways…
Not only can I look at my bank account and feel proud, but I feel the same when I look in the mirror.

Red wine and chocolate, right? They used to be my favorite “health foods.” 😅
(DON’T WORRY! I’m not dissing chocolate.🍫)
I remember so often reaching for the red and feeling like I was making a “smart decision.” There was just a general consensus that red wine was better for you than the rest.
Well, spoiler alter: that “science” was dramatically flawed.
I’m so glad to see more and more articles like this coming out… not that I’m condemning red wine, but just because I think it’s important that we’re being given accurate information about what we’re putting into our bodies!
This article is lovely – short, sweet, and informative.

Do you know your love language?
Stepping away from a life spent “coping” with alcohol opened a portal for me into a new realm of balance, self-compassion, and ::calm::
In learning more about the many legitimate methods of self-care—not associated with numbing or escape 😬 —I’ve discovered a whole *world* of eye-opening [and surprisingly simple] techniques to support Radical Self Care.
Radical, because in our society of hustle and grind, it’s a bold choice to step out of the *achievement game* and rest. 🧘♀️💕✨ …to put down the labels and politics of “success” and lean into an inherent sense of self-worth.
Conversations of Love Language typically refer to receiving love from partners, family, and friends…
BUT.
I’d like to offer a twist:
💗 If you like words of affirmation, can you write *yourself* a little post-it note of support? (Stick it to the bathroom mirror?)
💗 Acts of Service: Can you take some time to make that doctor’s appointment? Go through a carwash? Pack a nice lunch for tomorrow? ...how can you take care of *you?*
💗 Gifts is a fun one! Is there something special you could gift yourself today? 💐
💗 Quality time can look like a morning walk, or an evening on the couch with a good book. A few minutes of journaling or a long bath with some quiet music.
💗 And physical touch always gets a little wink, but seriously: Book a massage! Or even a haircut. Or snuggle up with a favorite pet.
Just pick something small and achievable that you can do for yourself today.
Speaking to yourself in your own love language is like the simplest HACK for self-care… and self-love.
It’s a red neon arrow pointing directly at your own heart❣️

I read this article in the Washington Post and absolutely loved it. …but then tears welled up in my eyes. 😢
If you haven’t heard about Elmo’s accidental therapy sesh with the world: the Sesame Street character sent out an innocent question on Twitter and thousands of people answered… honestly.
Their responses echoed what I’ve been hearing out here—it’s like this reverberating sense of “We are not ok.”
I *loved* the sweet humor this article brought to the story, but after reading it, I thought: “Ah, you see? It’s no wonder we turn to alcohol for comfort when we’re feeling lost.”
A societal trope so pervasive that even Elmo—a children’s puppet who is, in essence, a child—orders a strong drink after a hard day.
Now, Petri’s twist on a “strong drink” is delightful. ☺️ Her bartender hands the downtrodden puppet a lemonade wearing a sweatband, flexing biceps. …and it made me think:
THIS IS WHAT WE NEED! 🙌
How wonderful would it be if—when we’re feeling sad, or lost, or stressed—we could walk into a bar and ask for what we really need: Connection. A kind smile. A safe space to sit with our thoughts while nibbling something delicious.
…sipping a beverage to suit our taste that’s cool and refreshing… maybe even crafted with adaptogenic herbs to soothe our nerves or give us a boost of energy before heading home to cook dinner, manage laundry, homework, chores… whatever.
Something warm with reishi extract to help us get a good night’s sleep…
Something that *wasn’t* damaging to our health, addictive, and laced with poison. ☠️
I used to love going to bars. Hell, I loved *working* in bars. And it had just as much to do with the people, the atmosphere, the vibe—as it did with the drinks. (Though, don’t get me wrong, I was all about the drinks back then. 😅)
[[ Continued in comments ]] -->
I’m just gonna keep saying it: Go outside. 🙌 🌿
Your nervous system will thank you.
Your mood will thank you.
Fresh air is a ready-made perspective-check.
Will you commit to finding some time outside today?

Not kidding. This was one of the things that kept me going in the early days:
Picturing my little immune “first responders” being called off the barrage of damage caused by alcohol and FINALLY given a chance to get back to their day jobs! ⛑️
…throwing little cellular celebrations. 🥳
Alcohol is so toxic that your system makes it a priority over other functions to flush out/ mitigate damage/ keep you alive.
It also levels your gut microbiome—which leads to immune dysregulation—and makes the whole darn process that much harder.
Alcohol is like a one-two punch to your system… so it’s no wonder you feel better without it! 😅
If you’re ready to level-up your health, I highly suggest taking a break from booze.
Life without it feels pretty great. 🧘♀️💕✨

Bleh! This was me last week. 😝 Nothing was going right.
Everything felt harder than it needed to be... and the damn cat kept waking me up at 4am.
😾 I was grumpy…
And, back in the day, this would’ve been the signal to:
🍷 pop open a bottle of wine.
👇 plunk down on the couch.
🕳️ and scroll or netflix my way into oblivion.
You know what’s interesting? Wine didn’t even occur to me last week.
I went to the grocery store [on my grumpiest day] and didn’t go anywhere near the wine aisle.
Sure, I bought a bag of [organic, non-gmo] popcorn and ate it in the car on the way home. 😅 [I’m still human, afterall.] And I took myself for a walk in the fresh air. 🌿 Cranked up some feel-good music. 🎵 And when I realized I was veering towards overwhelm, I reevaluated my to-do list to allow a weekend of rest. 🧘♀️
It’s just so interesting to see—now that I’ve done the work to clear my mind of alcohol’s chaos—I just wouldn’t trade it. …even on the hardest days, I still want to protect this ::peace::
Plus, I know now that alcohol wasn’t really helping me cope with any of that hard stuff in the past… it was just a temporary bandaid, pushing pause on any actual processing, and generally causing more stress in my system.
➡️ It’s cliché but it’s true:
➡️ The only way out is through.
(stop rhyming, I meanit.) 🥜
By learning to turn and face these hard moments… by just allowing the hard days to be hard… I’ve gained so much *trust* in myself.
I can handle way more than I ever gave myself credit for. 🧘♀️ And the hard sh*t is still hard… but it doesn’t scare me anymore.
💗 How about you? …how’s your week going?
💗 What’s your go-to tactic to “feel better now?”
Take care of yourself out there.
[And get some popcorn, if you need to.] 🍿
Xo
Honoring all of the beautiful humans out there fighting for justice and peace.
There’s so much darkness in this world… it’s truly a rebellious act to amplify love. And, starting within ourselves, the love ripples out from there.
By changing how we show up in the world, the world starts to change.
🖤 You are more powerful than you know.
Xo
Don’t get me wrong! ANY break from booze is a gift to your body & mind!! BUT.
If it feels hard to stick to your goals,
…if it feels like a BUMMER right now…
You’re so not alone.
If you’re a frequent drinker, the [physiological] cards are stacked against you.
Most of us are NOT physically addicted to the point where actual medical detox is necessary, but the majority of us ARE somewhat emotionally hooked—and, REGARDLESS: the impact of drinking on our bodies has a much longer runway than we realize.
From William Porter’s research in ‘Alcohol Explained:’
🍷 The top-level toxins from alcohol are typically flushed from your system within 24 hours.
🍷 Depending on quantity, it can take upwards of 3 days for the second-level chemicals [that your body produces to counter the effects of drinking] to process through.
🍷 And up to 3 weeks for your body to return to its natural state of chemical/ hormonal balance.
During this period of adjustment, it’s common to feel anxious and irritable. lethargic. low energy.
And then the emotional dependency comes into play:
If alcohol is your go-to coping mechanism for a hard day, or a bad mood…
If it’s your reward for “adulting," or simply how you unwind and connect with friends…
Unless you’ve shored yourself up with other tools for these things—prepared yourself with REPLACEMENTS for these moments of craving—this absence of booze will feel like an *absolute bummer.*
Not because you’ve failed somehow…
But simply because that’s *how we work.*
So, if you’re attempting to do Dry January and you’re not meeting your goals. (…or you feel like you’re being *tortured* along the way…)
You might just need some new tools. 🧰

Life is in constant flux…
But when you’re in a period of stress & hustle, it can feel really hard to hang onto perspective.
I know for me—back when I was living in full-on burnout—I was just trying to *get through each day* and couldn’t seem to access my capacity to see the big picture.
I didn’t have the mental energy to do anything other than slog my way through the day ---> hit the F-it Button at happy hour [officially clocking out with a few cocktails] ---> before collapsing into bed, trying to ignore the feeling of DREAD of having to wake up to do it all over again the next day.
THIS SOUNDS VERY DRAMATIC. 😬 I know.
In a life replete with ALL KINDS of privilege, I had so much internal guilt and SHAME tied to my apparent “woe-is-me-ness” about my life...
But I didn’t understand the complexity of burnout back then.
And I definitely hadn’t made the connection between alcohol and stress [which only COMPOUNDS THE ISSUE] *ahem*
Sharing this now, in case there’s just one person out there that needs to hear it.
👉 If you’re having a hard time right now.
👉 If you’re facing this New Year and thinking “Oh no. I’m not ready for another year.” Or “…I can’t keep doing this.”
👉 If this year has felt full of questions with no answers in sight…
Please know that your answers are out there. Waiting to be found.
And you will find them at just the right time. 🤍
THE FIRST STEP?
🤍 Take a deep breath.
🤍 Give yourself credit for all the ways you’re still showing up.
🤍 All the ways you’re holding it together, even if imperfect.
🤍 And give yourself the permission to try something new… to start small.
Start adding in little moments of rest in your day. ...little bits of self-care.
And I’m not talking about the 🚨 Quick-fix 🚨 Check-out 🚨 F-it Button 🚨 sort of self-care like cocktails, pastries, or scrolling...
I’m talking about legitimate. self. care.
💗 You’re doing great—I know you’re doing the best you can.
💗 And your answers are out there—let me know when you’re ready to start looking.
Wishing you a beautiful New Year full of potential and hope. 💕✨

Ok, I know. 🙄 This often the hardest thing to do, but sincerely:
It is *precisely* when you’re feeling the busiest, the most overwhelmed and stretched-too-thin… that you should prioritize self-care and ::rest::
This has been a hard talk for me to walk, but it’s made a HUGE IMPACT on my burnout recovery, mental health, and honestly, in my relationships.
Taking the time to get outside, go for a walk, or even to just take a few deeps breaths in-between activities has become a touchstone of calm…
💕A saving grace
🧘♀️ Nervous-system-regulating
🧘♀️ Anxiety-reducing
🧘♀️ Mind-clearing
🧘♀️ Overall re-set
So, I’m really *hoping* you’ve got some time to rest and rejuvenate this week, in-between holiday events…
But, if you don’t, or if you’re simply feeling overwhelmed for any reason…
