Just off the route between Essaouira and Marrakech is a little town with a Sunday market. We stopped to look at plants for the new garden….. we sat and had a lovely pot of mint tea. The plants were amazing but there were no good photos. Next time.
I’m so hungry. This wonderful chicken and lemon tagine with prunes on our last day in Marrakesh… It hit the spot! In addition, a fresh squeezed glass of pomegranate juice…. Divine!
Most excellent macarons - in such an unusual shape. New Year’s Eve in Loches. Hand model
Dusk in Paris. Dec. 22.
Im home now, but I am posting random things I meant to post earlier. My new gate. New to me. Recycled, upcycled, vintage. Found in a salvage yard. So I had been looking for years for a new gate….. my neighbor Francis put it all together for us. I love it sooooooo much. Once the metal panels rust out I am going to paint the green parts black and then seal the whole thing. Gah!!!!!!!! And sweet Hirondelle is the loveliest dog! Having dog love in France means the world to me.
Last night in the Loire valley. Everyone was a little under the weather, but we managed to get it together enough to have dinner in this wonderful little village in this unbelievable little restaurant. They had a foie gras, tart Tatin, which sounds bizarre, but holy crap. It was delicious. Everything was seriously delicious! The big beer is mine and the teeny tiny little glass belongs to Kevin. I so love the contrast. Off to Paris today and I might actually get caught up with all the other stuff I want to post… Ha, ha, ha, ha ha. Might.
Exploring inside the Medina while searching for treasures.
Wouldn't you know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express
They're taking me to Marrakesh…. @37.rue.balzac .div1
Apéro à chez moi ce soir…. Happy hour at my house tonight! The neighbors are expected at any minute…
My very favorite church in Paris. St. Séverin. Teeny tiny compared to the rest of them… And yet so huge in character! Close to Notre Dame … the stained glass windows are truly spectacular. If you get lucky enough to be there during the tuning of the organ, You just had the perfect day!
Had. Major typo. As found at yesterday’s brocante.
Merry Xmas and Joyeux Noël from France. Wishing the best to you and yours from France.
The cabbage at the market yesterday was gorgeous!
Sunday brunch.
Checking into our sweet little hotel. .belleville we’re waiting for our room to be ready ….these delicious beverages are most necessary! The restaurant here looks amazing…

Fijne Sinterklaas! Happy December 5!
Did you know that the figure of Santa Claus is based on Saint Nicholas (Sinterklaas) the patron saint of children? Back in the 4th century he became the Bishop of Myra in Turkey. He hailed from a rich home and became widely known for supporting the poor and needy and would often be seen, dressed in red and white robes, handing out gifts to children. The Dutch celebrate the evening of his feast day with a celebration of exchanging gifts, called ‘pakjesavond’ (boxing evening) on 5 December. As a child, we would put out our wooden shoes (klompen) by the fireplace and wait for a gift of cookies, chocolate coins among other things. Kinda like a Christmas stocking… so there is obviously much more to it than that… but this is a general vibe. Every country has its own wonderful little traditions!
Delicious lunch yesterday with a client and friend at in the south waterfront… The Dan Dan noodles and the cucumbers…Holy crap! Get down there! You’re welcome.
