What does love look like? 🌺🌿♥️
I am sorting through some photos of the Liljestrand House, and came across some from a trip I took with .guggenheim (and her mom) last year. What a wonderful trip (can we go back?!), and what an incredible house. There were so many details to study and appreciate.
Thank you, Chris and Jenny, for turning me onto this unbelievable home by architect Vladimir Ossipoff. I will come back to these photos again and again. I mean… GAH! Look at those louvers.
No meeting today, but I love this view of the steps between the house and pool at our . We are SO excited to see the landscaped terracing coming together. On a scale of 1-10, we are turned up to 11.
Early morning down south, as we get closer to Phase 1 breaking ground.

The courtyard of our will be the perfect spot to play fetch, gather with friends for dinners, or…?
What would you do with an enclosed courtyard?

We can’t wait to share more, as we progress.
And as always, please let us know if you have a project to discuss. We’d love to talk with you.

The pocket doors are going in on our ! Are you a fan of pocket doors? How about GIANT pocket doors?
Want to see some images from a major project? Our clients tasked us with bringing a “Lake Tahoe / Aspen retreat” feel to their home in Banks, OR. They loved their neighborhood, and didn’t want to leave their home, but were also ready to retire in style. They wanted to open up views to the outdoors, and because they host weekly family dinners for up to 25 (!), they desired more space in their living and dining rooms as well as an expanded deck, so everyone could gather together at one table, and then relax together outdoors or around a fire. They wanted to bring new finishes into their kitchen and throughout the living spaces, and wanted the entire home to feel “fresh.”
We also designed a new primary suite above their existing (and extended) garage, with a terrace to capitalize on views that were lost by a neighboring tree farm. This suite has light from 3 sides, a large walk-in closet with a washer-dryer, a cabinet island, and a sanctuary bathing space, with a freestanding soaking tub.
From of our up to the terrace and main house. ♥️
“Come on in… the water’s fine!”
Some renders of our :
We designed this four bedroom home for a choir director/composer and his wife, for a 25-acre property north of Newberg. Designed to replace an existing home that had fallen into disuse and disrepair, this was to be a new, more open structure that would be more energy efficient and will allow for larger gatherings of family and friends. It was designed to take advantage of the close-in and distant views that are present, over their vineyards and towards Mt Adams & Mt Rainier. The couple wanted to use this house personally, as well as potentially as a short-term rental property (geared towards music groups). The living area was designed to hold a choir of 25 to 30 people, and the walls were canted to control acoustics. The existing house was to be salvaged, for use of many of the cabinets, wall panels and structural elements for the new home.
Sadly this project will just continue on as a “paper project.” That is sometimes just what happens, but we are glad we could at least develop our scheme a little into these renderings. Enjoy!
More images to come!

Our production building project is getting ready to wrap up, with a beautiful coat of paint, and we are delighted.
While it may not look like we made many changes from the outside, our design converted an existing equipment garage into a wine production facility, which the winemaker thinks would be able to handle north of 100 tons of fruit in one year. This project maintained the existing building in many ways, to allocate budget towards “priority” items, such as drainage, infrastructure for bottling and fire trucks, and a GIANT roof for crush and bottling. Where there were once a few tractors and some field equipment, we finished off the spaces, introduced barrel and fermentation rooms with trench drains, an office / lab in the back of the building (in what used to be outdoor covered area), storage, and mechanical spaces. We are so happy this building works for our client as well as it does.
How is it that we haven’t shared that we have a BRAND NEW WEBSITE?!! I was going to write a post titled “New Year; New Website,” but that didn’t happen because it still needed editing (spoiler: it still needs some tweaks), so I kept postponing its announcement. And now it is no longer a new year. 🤭
But thanks to the efforts of as well as many staff members (but namely ) we have a gorgeous newly formatted website, with several new projects on it.
The link is in our profile. Please check it out!

If you would like to build a home or renovate your existing home, we’ve got you. :)
Also, as an added bonus to working on this once-in-a-lifetime design house, this home is also very sustainably built. We achieved LEED Gold and Earth Advantage Platinum for the house, and LEED PLATINUM (and Earth Advantage Platinum) for the ADU. It is such an honor we can work on projects like this.

One of our favorite projects, the … this was a once in a career kind of house, BUT
If you would like to build a home or renovate your existing home, we’ve got you. :)
We are so glad when we are able to see our houses being lived in, as furniture, plants, books, and knick knacks make them feel so personal, and like “home.” We felt tremendously blessed to be welcomed, and know our clients went above and beyond, to make the situation more safe, as they opened their homes. We are so happy to see the houses as they were intended to be used, with dishes and family and photos, etc.
During our tour of the Portland House, we were reminded how wonderful all the craftspeople were to work with, and doing a home so hand-touched was certainly a once in a lifetime project. It doesn’t hurt that the owner loves plants, textiles, artwork, and has very good taste. Here are just a few photos of some of the main living spaces.

We LOVE our winery clients!!!
It is always such a pleasure to see our projects after they wrap up, and are being used in the intended ways. This winery (as you can tell from the photos) had a strong focus on maximizing the interior AND exterior spaces, by covering an extended crush and exterior storage spaces. 😍🍷
We started this project with Ron Benza ( ) at the VERY beginning of Covid, about a week after we sent all our staff home.
We helped convert an existing equipment garage into a wine production facility, which the winemaker thinks would be able to handle north of 100 tons of fruit in a year. This project came at such a pivotal time for us; after losing work to the pandemic, it was a glimmer of hope for me, and for our team. This project gave us something exciting (and good!) to “Zoom” about, instead of only focusing on the news.
Fast forward to now: I am so thankful that this project came when it did, because it gave us something to work towards AND it was an absolute pleasure. Ron and his team have always been a delight to work with, as has Marty Knopf (of ), and their wines are amazing.
Anyway, what I am trying to say is that we love working with this awesome client, and are so excited to continue helping them to bring their visions into reality. ♥️♥️♥️ More exciting work together, to come!

Same project as yesterday; different images.
Designed for a small family, this modern home is located on the Washington side of the Columbia River. The home includes a beautiful terrace on the river side (with dining, a fire pit, and martini pool), and an interior courtyard, that doubles as a basketball court. Living spaces open to one another, and ceiling levels break up and define the spaces. The clients wanted to be able to gather with friends to watch the Christmas ships and 4th of July fireworks over the river, so there are quite a few different group gathering spaces, but the house must also work well for a family of three.
Proximity to the river, changes in zoning regulations, and setback requirements meant we had to design within the existing house’s footprint. Stringent HOA requirements presented interesting challenges in the design, including a limited exterior palette.
This home will have continuous insulation, an air filtration system, high-efficiency HVAC, and solar panels.

We’ve been working on some images to share for our project we are working on at The Sea Ranch, in Sonoma Co., California.
We really like our clients, and it is a dream to be working on a project at The Sea Ranch. We really worked to keep forms simple and striking, while designing a comfortable, gracious and cozy home. More on this project soon!
From the Sea Ranch’s website: "In the mid 1960’s, a visionary developer identified 10 miles of former sheep ranch on the Northern California coast in Sonoma County as the ideal place to create a planned community. He gathered a group of renowned like-minded professionals – landscape designers, architects, attorneys, planners and ecologists – to create The Sea Ranch, a place where homes and amenities are informed by nature and the environment.”

This house was made for Fridays, but I’m taking a long weekend with friends, so maybe today could be a fill-in?!
This home is so sweet, and this cutie light above the sink was the inspiration for a lot of the elements in this kitchen, to bring a little glamour to our . Even on a rainy day, what a sunny spot to do the dishes!
Tired of both working from their tiny apartment, we helped this couple bring new life to this adorable split-level home, by focusing on efficiency with a touch of glamour. Now they have a little more elbow room, and lots of chic storage fun built-ins.
