Bamboo is the fastest growing plant, some species are able to grow up to an astonishing three feet in just one day! Bamboo is an incredibly hardy plant that thrives in tropical climates and requires little water. Bamboo has been a dependable resource for centuries and because of it’s fast growth it is a sustainable crop for greener living.

Customers wanted a product to treat their cutting boards and utensils. We were unable to find a solution we could recommend that didn’t contain petroleum-based mineral oil.

So we made our own. A proprietary all-natural blend that delivers all the benefits, requires less amount, and doesn't rely on petroleum-based ingredients.

Naturally, we packaged it in glass (with a paper label).

As summer winds down, this is the perfect time to soak up as much outdoors as we can. We love any opportunity for a picnic!

With the end of Summer upon us we want to focus on fun, family activities. One of our favorite activities is family baking. We teamed up with for easy kid-friendly recipes. This one for icebox cookies is great because it uses only 10 simple ingredients, has straightforward directions, and the dough can be stored and cookies at a later time.

Other ideas for plastic free swaps? Pets: purchase pet food in bulk and use compostable pet waste bags. When you can, skip the bag and just put the p**p straight in the bin. Compost your food scraps - the more we keep out of the landfill the more we keep greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere. Choose loose leaf tag - many tea bags contain plastics and chemicals that can leach out at high temperatures. Do a litter clean up event or even pick up while you’re on a neighborhood walk. People are significantly less likely to litter when an area is already litter free. And spread the word! Sharing your experience is inspiring to others, the more we all participate the more we can all help the environment!

Other ways to reduce plastic use at the grocery store? Bring your own bag, keep a few extras in your car or purse so you have them when you need them. Refuse unnecessary bags too - choose loose produce instead of pre-packaged and skip those thin plastic bags.

The grocery store offers an unlimited range of plastic packaging. We can reduce our use of it by shopping in the bulk bins. Bring your own containers and have the store tare them before you fill them. Purchase foods in glass or metal containers which are significantly easier to recycle. Skip the pre-packaged deli and bakery items - go to the butcher counter and bring your own containers.

This one is a no-brainer, bring your own water bottle with you and refill it. Bring your own coffee mug too and let your barista make your drink in it. Even well-intentioned “compostable” beverage cups usually end up in the landfill because they require a special facility for processing.

Plastic straws are in the top 10 items collected during beach clean ups. Reducing our use of straws is an easy step, opt for no straw in your drink, or bring your own reusable one. Encourage your favorite places to only offer straws when consumers ask.

Years ago, on a vacation in Bali, we drank out of coconuts with roughly carved bamboo straws. In between sips, we saw an opportunity to use our knowledge of working with bamboo to bring a renewable alternative to plastic straws to our customers in the United States.

So much of what is made for kids is plastic. Considering how quickly they outgrow things, consider getting items second-hand as they probably have a lot of life in them. For items that are easy to swap look for natural utensils, stainless steel plates and cups (), and wooden toys. Homemade snacks reduce a significant amount of single use packaging. Cloth diapers keep a lot out of the landfills. A child in disposable diapers will use approximately 6000 in their lifetime. Plastic free products offer a long lasting solution with earth-friendly end of life options.
