The Corbett School District Woodard Middle School project consisted of remodeling two one-story wood framed buildings, totaling 7,100 sf, and a connecting hybrid PEMB addition of 7,500 sf. Designed by Soderstrom Architects Ltd., the project houses six classrooms, a special education classroom, administrative offices, and a multipurpose room.
The Pearl District in Northwest Portland is home to the new Joybird showroom. This 3,800 sf commercial warehouse space is unique, boasting impressive features such as towering columns, exposed brick walls, expansive storefront windows, reclaimed wood flooring, and a lofty exposed wood ceiling, creating an atmosphere that is both inviting and visually captivating. The space features several captivating centerpieces, including a faux fireplace with porcelain tile surrounded, a custom-fabricated green wall that adds a touch of nature, and a bar with an eye-catching moss signage.
For the final day of Safety Week, our Portland office got together to discuss how our office staff can also forward our safety culture. We all have something to contribute when it comes to safety, and it’s important to demonstrate that every voice matters when forming a plan. Thank you to our Safety Team and all of our jobsites for your participation in Construction Safety Week 2024!
Our Ft. Stevens Guardhouse and Hawk's Eye Apartments projects teamed up to host one of our lunch and learns for Safety Week this week. Diversity of thought creates more efficient and effective solutions and helps teams take ownership of preventing incidents together.
Yesterday, the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center in Newberg discussed the benefits of cultivating a safety culture. To assure that we demonstrate a culture where all our workers are heard when they speak out is by encouragement and empowerment. Let’s make safety our way of life!
Today's daily topic for Safety Week is: Embracing Every Voice. When people feel their voice is heard, employee morale and engagement improve, teams are more productive, and a variety of perspectives are brought into the conversation. We embrace every voice with open communication, active listening, communicating concerns, encouraging engagement, and conducting follow-ups. Shout out to our Columbia County John Gumm Historic Renovation team for hosting a lunch and learn!
Jesse Wilcox, Superintendent, and Jake Bishop, Safety Director, hosted the lunch and learn for Safety Week at the FVRLibraries - Fort Vancouver Regional Library District Woodland Community Library project. The dialogue created through everyone’s contribution to the discussion brings forward all the expertise on the crew and leads to better hazard identification, and safety improvements in the work process.
The City of Happy Valley, Oregon Library Expansion project team hosted a late breakfast yesterday to discuss this year's theme, value every voice. We all have something to contribute when it comes to safety, and it’s important to demonstrate that every voice matters when forming a plan. A special thank you to our presenters: Susan Odeh Brandt, Project Manager, and Jake Bishop, Safety Director.
Welcome to Construction Safety Week! All week long, our jobsites will be hosting lunch and learn presentations surrounding this year's theme, "Value Every Voice," and heat stress. Check out the following photos of the City of Portland Mt. Scott Community Center team during the first lunch and learn of the week.

Bremik is honored to have fulfilled a wish to have an outdoor sensory structure for a local Make-A-Wish Oregon kid! Did you know that construction-related wishes have increased significantly since the beginning of the pandemic? To combat the challenges to their child’s critical illness, many families have desired unique amenities to enjoy their home or outdoor space. This particular structure includes a swing, sensory wall, music set, and a water feature. Thank you to the amazing team who donated their services to fulfill this wish: GBD Architects, Duke Construction & Excavation, LaRusso Concrete, Cudahy Lumber, and Pioneer Sheet Metal.
Congratulations to our February Safety Raffle winners who were all recognized for on-the-spot safety and near miss reporting: Jon Pederson (Grand Prize), Logan Smith (2nd Runner Up), and Tyler Mammen (3rd Runner Up).

Thank you to all the amazing women to help keep our industry going!
Last week, our team celebrated the groundbreaking of the Family Promise of Tualatin Valley motel conversion to transitional housing in Tigard, OR. The Family Promise of Tualatin Valley purchased an existing motel to repurpose the building into transitional housing and shelter for families and individuals experiencing houselessness. The first floor will receive a new commercial kitchen with large scale walk-in cooler and freezer for food storage, enhanced 50 person dining room, increased resident laundry space, and a community multipurpose room for a variety of resident services meetings and events. The second floor hotel rooms will be adapted to use for individual office and support staff use while the third and fourth floors will be enhanced for transitional housing units. The scope of the project also includes various exterior improvements and adding a fire sprinkler system to bring the structure up to code. Scott Edwards Architecture
