Videos by Alan Nyiri Photography in Portland. Digital Imaging is the single most exciting development in photography I've seen in fifty years.
Surrounded by waterfalls in Red Canyon, near Sedona.
Sedona is getting it's share of the Monsoon rains this week, and there's nothing like a waterfall to beat the heat.
Early morning sunlight reflected off the vernal Grotto pool may partly explain why the ancient people felt that this was such a place of strong magic. Or not...who knows for sure? © 2024 by Alan Nyiri: All Rights Reserved https://alannyiriphotography.zenfolio.com
A nice half-inch of rain Sunday evening got the waterfalls pumping off the cliffs in our box canyon, and I made this little video through the dining area window. I expected to go out to make better ones when the rain and lightning stopped, but by the time they did, the waterfalls had stopped too. Oh well, next time. © 2024 by Alan Nyiri: All Rights Reserved https://alannyiriphotography.zenfolio.com
How do the locals stay cool when it's 100+ outside? This little guy finds that spreading out on a cool rock in a shady place works for him. Munching on a walnut helps the time pass, too.
This black-tailed rattler showed up at the cliff dwelling yesterday and was caught by our intrepid volunteer, Snake Man Jim. Jim will be training some fire fighters this weekend and this 'volunteer' snake will assist him. But it will be fed and returned to this exact site on Monday to resume its normal life.
They say that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb? Baaah! It's March 31st and the wind is howling! But Happy Easter anyway.
I crossed paths with this unconcerned herd of about 18 pronghorn today, photographing them for 15-20 minutes. I wandered off before they did, and did not sense that I was disturbing them at all during that time. © 2024 by Alan Nyiri: All Rights Reserved https://alannyiriphotography.zenfolio.com/
We had a nice surprise at the multi-agency Grasslands Conference today, held at the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area. Range management topics from soil science to prescribed burning were discussed, but when this herd of pronghorn appeared while we were in transit between locations, they stole the show. I was a little fast on the draw to put away my phone, or I would have had a much better segment of them running. Lesson learned!
OH, how the wind and the snow blew for two hours last week. And for some reason the windmill, which I've never seen turning, suddenly spun like a top. And the big wind we've seen since didn't budge it even half a turn. So I'm glad to have witnessed the event.
I created this time-lapse video back in 2015; it was as lovely a moonrise as I've ever enjoyed, in as spectacular a setting as I could ever imagine. Crater Lake is a step above everything else.
Looking over some past work, I rediscovered this time-lapse video I made back in 2015, as lovely a moonrise as I've ever enjoyed, in as spectacular a setting as I could ever imagine. When making these images of the explosive surf on the Oregon Coast, I used the high-speed burst-capture mode on my Canon 5DIII. Longer bursts would have made for more complete time-lapse clips, but ubfortunately I was really focused on single-frame peak moment images. Neverless, these clips illustrate the drama of these giant crashing waves. Enjoy!
