Your niche is not too saturated.
Your brand isn't differentiated enough.
"Are you considering ecommerce to upscale your business? Here are five great reasons.
1. Expand your sales with a wider reach.
2. Lower overhead costs by reducing physical space and labor.
3. Improve customer experience with convenience and personalization.
4. Use data-driven insights for better decision-making and targeted marketing.
5. Diversify your revenue and reach a global audience.
Unlock your business with ecommerce and expand your potential!
An e-commerce store is more than just a business.
It's a way for the little guy to compete with the big guy and actually win.
It's empowerment, change, and impact on people's lives.
Bet on YOU.
You should consider Amazon's image guidelines for your own e-commerce store's main product image.
Why? With over 1M sellers on the Amazon marketplace, one thing they really don't suffer from is poor product images.
These image guidelines have helped amazon maintain quality across 1M sellers, and if you follow them in your store, your store will look better as well.
Guidelines:
- Images must accurately represent the item listed for sale and match the product title provided.
- Use pure white space as the background
- The product must fill at least 85% of the image.
- Images must be in focus, professionally lit, and photographed or scanned with realistic color; no pixelation or jagged edges should be visible.
- Images can’t contain nudity or be considered sexually suggestive; leotards, underwear, and swimwear for kids and babies shouldn’t be shown on human models.
- Images can’t display logos or trademarks or something that can be confused with one
- Images must not include any badges such as “Best Seller,” or “Top Seller.”
Additionally, I would suggest:
- Make sure the image is at least 1000 pixels on each side.
- Always use JPG for ideal image size.
- Always maintain at least 5% padding around the image so it doesn't crowd.
- Use the same aspect ratio consistently. Usually square is the best.
Images are a big pain for all e-commerce sellers... but solving the issue is a key differentiator between stores doing 6 figures vs 7+.

Testing your e-commerce store's page performance is easy, but you do need to remember to test all your most important pages.
Just go to https://pagespeed.web.dev/ and put in your homepage url and run the test.
This will show you how Google's crawler regards your page performance.
Be sure to do the same test with a sample category page URL and a sample product page URL.
Google will give you an overall score, and then break down some things you can improve to improve your scoring.
Then you can also test your site with https://gtmetrix.com/ and https://tools.pingdom.com/ and they may give you additional insights.
NOTE: All these tools are FREE!
Have you underestimated the importance of reviews for your online brand?
Obviously, when buyers are looking to make a purchase, reviews are super important to help them make their decision and complete the sale. Actively seeking out reviews will strengthen your brand and build the social proof your visitors are looking for.
In addition to this, asking for a review is a subtle way of getting existing and hopefully happy customers back to your store for a 2nd time. They might even buy again while they're there!
In this way, asking for those reviews helps in 2 ways.
So make reviews important and don't rely on your cart's default reviews system to get the job done. You need something that looks great on the page, but that also does a better job of reaching out to the customer in the first place, to increase the likelihood of getting that review.
With the right system, you can also pipe those reviews into your google ads and show a 'trusted store' status to get better results from your PPC campaigns.
Stamped and Yotpo are 2 great systems, that can improve your reviews and help you grow. Check them out!
Everything good comes from change.
Do something different and see what happens.
Want to grow your e-commerce sales?
Focus on your resonance.
Put yourself in the shoes of your prospect.
What do they need when they come to you?
What are they looking for in the right solution?
Figuring out who they are, what they need, and what SPECIFICALLY they are looking for, is called building your client avatar.
It's also the secret sauce to making more sales.
If you understand them and what they're looking for, both in generality and specifics... then you can show them that you are the best answer.
Even better, if you can help them refine their definition of what the best answer looks like, now you're the top solution in the market.
Make sure that you're being upfront with the things people are looking for.
>> Try to show your main categories in your main menu (top level).
>> Try to show images of the products they are looking for.
>> Try to show lifestyle images of people using the products or enjoying the solution to their problems.
Resonate visually, textually, and navigationally (is that a word?)
Your sales will go up.
This is what they mean when they say "Content is King"
Checking out BigCommerce's "Buy with Prime" feature for the first time and it's pretty cool.
This feature lets you connect your BigCommerce store to your FBA account and display a Buy with Prime button on the product page for a one-click checkout that is automatically fulfilled from your FBA inventory.
I think this is a big win for brands who are already selling on FBA as their main channel and want to add their own branded site to the mix as well.
This lets a brand have its own sales channel, that they can market how they see fit (outside of amazon ads), use lifetime value-building tools like rewards and email marketing, and actually build a customer list of their own through their marketing efforts.
.. and because it connects to their existing FBA inventory to fulfill, there's no need for additional warehousing, and you reap the benefits of Amazon's great shipping rates.
For the right businesses, this is an amazing win... and there are a lot of you out there that would be the right business for this model.
Kudos to and on this one.

A common problem I see with so many business owners is they forget their own job.
It's so easy to get caught up in the business of making your product that people forget to keep the main thing the main thing.
The main thing for business owners is always the same:
Every business owner is in the business of the thing their business makes or sells.
You can get people to help you with it, but you can never replace the value a business owner brings by engaging in their own marketing.
If you market, it will grow.
Always be marketing.
Go do it.
E-commerce limiting belief:
"My supplier's photos aren't good enough."
I hear this so much from struggling e-commerce stores.
.. and you're right. Your supplier's photos AREN'T good enough.
.. but you're wrong... and you're not going to want to hear this.
Expecting your supplier's photos to fulfill your photography needs is a recipe for disaster.
Think about it... if they did such a great job marketing their products, they'd be going DTC instead of selling wholesale to you.
And if their photography was so great, all your competitors would have the same great photos too, and then you'd have no differentiator.
A secret from the 7+ fig brands is that one of the ways they make it over the hump is that they stop expecting great photography and instead spend their bandwidth trying and testing photography until they nail it in-house.
Then they have great photography.
Then they have consistent photography.
Then they add a 0 to the end of their rev.
Product photography is a skill you need as a store owner or at least on your team.
You can do it with your phone but you gotta make yourself do it.
Ecom stores doing under $1M:
"I want my store to be more ____. I'd really like it to be ____"
Ecom stores doing over $1M:
"My visitors want to see more ____. My visitors want a ____ experience."
See the difference?
Done right, design improves your sales and conversions.
But how do you KNOW what will work? 🧐
You can gather data after the fact with AB tests, but this isn’t always possible.
With something like packaging design, you have to know before you print it.
So you can crowd-test your designs to get data before you go to market.
Check out these logo and packaging variations we recently tested. We gather quantitative feedback (votes) as well as qualitative feedback (the reasoning behind those votes).
One logo variation stood out as the clear winner.
One packaging variation was slightly ahead in the vote, but reading the comments led us to a clear winning variation. 🏅
How do YOU use data to make your decisions? 🤓
