One thing that drew me to our home was the intricate architectural details and unique combination of Italianate, Mediterranean , and English Tudor. It’s not just one style but a cohesive combination of all three. I am on the hunt to find out our architect who built three homes in a row back in 1926 in the Kings Heights neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. They all have a different facade but similar layout’s and architectural details inside. This particular detail on the fireplace mantel marks his works in all three homes. The lions head motif originates from the French Empire of the 1700’s resembling courage, resistance and heroism. This motif was then revitalized by the British Regency era creating a desire for ornate details and motifs in furnishings and decor!
This little corner is one of many favorites in my living room. I sourced this vintage marble lamp and had it cleaned up and rewired at our local shop. I chose this accordion shade in a slight shade of peach to add some texture and tie in my living room color palette! A vintage book, and my favorite candle tie it all in creating a perfect vignette.
I love looking back at photos we were lucky enough to capture such as this close up of this reading area we designed in this -bedroom. Mid Century style bucket chairs were custom upholstered in fabric, while creating layers with , African woven plates, and an oversized wooden lamp to add ambience!
I’m thrilled to share that AM Spence Interiors is featured in this month’s January issue of !This English publication features 25 Beautifully designed Homes throughout the world and our Seattle Colonial project made the cut! Our Mediterranean Kitchen gets a little shout out on Spruce Official. for the win!
Reminiscent and giving Thanks today as I wake up and think about all we have to be thankful for. We love being able to host our family and friends for Thanksgiving dinner, eat glutinous savory dishes and sweet homemade desserts while catching up on our years adventures.
I am thankful for my everyday encounters with a lovely community we have been introduced to this year with our sons schooling.
I am thankful for being able to be in a creative industry for my work. On a daily basis I get to create, design, problem solve and implement ideas for my clients personal homes. I get to build relationships, gain trust from my clients, and change and improve their everyday experiences within their home. I could go on and on, but I posted this picture because it reminds me of a moment where I am truly happy in the moment doing what I am doing and for that I am Thankful. Okay thanks for any of you that are still reading this cheesy rant! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Another look at our kitchen we completed. A customized walnut peninsula, unlaquered brass shelving and add some visual interest while keeping things looking fresh!

One of my favorite shots of this gorgeous remodel we designed and completed in The Alameda Neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. Collaborating with long time friends, now clients, along with amazing contractors and cabinet makers made the process so much more enjoyable. I could not be happier with the results! Careful, I may be inviting myself over for dinner and drinks more often than not! Cheers!

Here’s a shot of this classic kitchen design we finished for our Dutch Colonial remodel. We kept it sophisticated and clean with off white paint and tile selections allowing things like this wallpaper to pop in the background! Traditional, modern, and classic, this project checks all the boxes.
This shot goes out to the one I love most. It’s the simple things like this entry way vignette that shines. Polished, clean, classical and solid are all the features in this styled photo. Qualities to be cherished.
And a simple reminder of appreciating the subtle details…
Happy Valentines Day.

Here’s a peek into this colonial dining room we completed. The traditional elements come through with chinoiserie wallpaper, heirloom equestrian photographs, and colonial architectural features of the herringbone flooring and crown moldings. The dining table with pops of fresh sage colored wingback chairs brighten the space while blending old with new. And let’s not overlook the anchoring art deco chandelier!
This Blue on Blue Primary Bedroom has it’s sweet moments. Here we highlighted some vintage finds we curated to create a classical, traditional and current vibe.

This colonial style home we completed and it’s looking mighty good. We used classical elements such as floral fabrics, tufted furnishings, and vintage pieces to create a unique and warm ambiance. The colonial architecture shines with the natural light and bright and airy paint colors! A new designer favorite here.

Blue on blue on blue. This color has so many shades it’s almost a neutral. I love how we could layer with bedding, pillows and this gorgeous headboard!

We have been collaborating on this basement remodel in for almost a year now since we broke ground. The ,planning, project management, ordering, and waiting for all our wonderful specifications are finally coming together. You know you are on the home stretch when cabinetry, tile and countertops are installed! Just look at these custom new windows…
I’m thankful for a wonderful and patient client, with grace and good taste who realizes that some things are worth waiting for… such as our silly custom bar pendant. But ooh will it look so good! We are not sure of the supply chain future at the moment, but working together and creating and implementing these fantastic spaces we have imagined is what fuels me. More to come!
One of things on my own home to do list is to spruce up our guest bath. This incredible color palette and classic design does just that. The intricate tile, dark wainscot, and calming wall color works so well together. Fresh flowers atop a vintage chair make this space feel fresh and complete!
Reds, French hues of blues, and an eclectic mix of style grace this designed . Simplistic, interesting, and personal. Bravo.
I have been pulling together multiple fabric palettes for my own home decor and it has been too much fun. So far there have been six palettes and six furnishings layout for the living room! The problem with being an interior designer is knowing too many options. As my client we would limit these options to two, maybe three after exploring all viable options for you and eliminating any unnecessary head spinning!
The creative exploration needs to find that one thing that will then drive the rest of the process… and it’s been a process. I’ve realized I have become my worst client with indecisiveness, change, doubt, and well ex*****on. Yet I will say it’s been wonderful to explore my personal design decor along the way. Here’s a palette I find sweet, classic, and with textural interest. I would work this into a clients home in a heart beat and see it working across many furnishings styles. I look forward to sharing more ideas and the creative process of our English Tudor house (or is it Spanish Revival?) I can’t decide… TBD.
Each little nook and cranny of a home is an opportunity to create a moment with purpose. We framed this corner in this primary bedroom as a place to wake up, enjoy your coffee and have some time to reflect. The morning light through this window is captured and highlighted through the custom drapery. Not a bad way to start the day!
The simplicity and elegance of this demonstrates thoughtful design choices like no other! This natural stone sink is unbelievable!
We remodeled this Queen Anne condo for our jet setting client whom wanted to modernize her living and kitchen space. The classic historic building had been remodeled before in a contemporary modern look circa 2000…We wanted to add the traditional elements back in while still keeping it fresh and adding more functionality. This landing pad just got even better!…
Another wow factor graces the gram today as I scrolled onto this beauty showcasing hand painted wall coverings. This is displayed at their showroom. A true nod to taking a small space and adding a timeless, classic and intricate design. This is what is all about!
This eclectic dining room is carefully curated to perfection interior design. The mixture of vintage furnishings and decor display how you can mix different eras into your home. It’s pulling it all together that makes it so dreamy. Not to mention this gorgeous contrasting color palette of bold blues and Bordeaux red!
Found this oldie but a goodie of this we did in this contemporary home. The foyer is the first thing you and your guest experience when you enter your home. It welcomes you! At the end of the day my client wanted to add character and depth to the space and we needed functionality to pair with it! Bench seating, storage built-ins, wallpaper, wainscot and lighting was all part of the plan to create this welcoming entry.

It’s been a very busy week and I was so pleased to put the finishing touches on this that we remodeled and styled from the early 2000’s to 2021. My client wanted to capture a sophisticated yet comfortable decor while using fresh textural whites with hints of Pacific Blues reminding her of home. We captured this feel with this gorgeous painting who created this piece specifically for this space. This is now calling for a dinner party!
Living room perfection here demonstrated by interiors. I thought this makes me think about space planning and how it’s plays a big part of the story. Not everything needs to be centered on the fireplace? How can you get creative with the shapes and sizes of your furnishings and bring together a fresh perspective? Not to mention this juicy color palette.
