Fake spring is over, and just in time for the first full day of (real) spring, we’re back to our regularly scheduled March weather. 🤣

But fear not, this past weekend’s sunshine did not go to waste! Cameron and Jeanne’s engagement session at Hoyt Arboretum was absolutely lovely and dry and perfect. 💕

I’d be lying if I said these haven’t been some of the most stressful few months of our lives. Preparing (what we thought would be) our forever home to sell has been DRAINING… physically and financially, of course, because it’s a 113 year old house.

The emotional drain, though, has been the biggest hurdle for me personally. This house is where my babies have grown up. This is where they’ve learned to walk and talk and read and ride bikes. We’ve been marking their heights on this door frame every summer for almost 7 years.

So, we transferred their heights to a 2x4 and snapped a photo of them here, and then we painted it so a new family can start marking their own milestones and making their own memories in this beautiful home. Onto the next adventure!

Today’s my 18th business birthday!

(Shoutout to FB ‘On This Day’ for the reminder, because it snuck up on me 🤣).

Thank you to all y’all who’ve put your trust in me to tell your stories…. I know I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again and again- that is a privilege I do not take lightly, and I am truly honored.

Still can’t believe what I’ve accomplished in this last nearly two decades… and looking forward to what the next years hold! 🎉🎉🎉

Did you know that Hoyt Arboretum is home to over 2000 species of shrubs and trees from 6 different continents? It’s one of my absolute favorite spots in Portland, not only for sessions, but just to pause and marvel at these gentle giants. 🌲🌲🌲

Captured my first session of 2024 this afternoon! It wasn’t nearly as snowy as this mama’s maternity session, but I was just tickled to have a little snow left on the ground here in town. ❄️❄️❄️

How are y’all holding up out there? Physically, mentally, emotionally… how can I support YOU?

It is ROUGH right now to be a small business owner. Between the weather and the economy and everything else, I’ve chatted with other folks in my industry and bookings are way, way down… like 50% or more (myself included). Most of us are coming off of our ‘slow’ season, too, which makes it pretty stressful.

So know that you’re not alone, and that things will get better. This community is the best, and if we stick together and keep lifting each other up, we’ll make it though this like we always have. 💕💕
