It was a big day for a site visit to .
The roof is on the new addition (just in time for the rains), the kitchen has been opened up with the old take-out-a-wall-and-put-in-a-big-ass-beam trick, and the front rooms have been opened up. Today's the first day where you can really see how this is going to work.
I want to live in a house that's all framing, no insulation and no wall surfaces. I think it's all beautiful and I hate to cover it up. I just need a big ol' barn.
We ❤️ our clients.
My first visit to today. What a showroom! Mother Nature is my favorite designer.
One more from - The bathrooms in this house are really small. We didn't have room to expand the footprint, so we went for the wet room approach.
Lose the tub, put in a curbless shower and a wall mount toilet to preserve as much floor space as possible. Add a custom recessed medicine cabinet for max storage and top it all off with the usual spectacular tile job courtesy of .
Small but mighty!

RETURN TO THE BLACK PEARL
Can we talk about this kitchen? This kitchen is home to some SERIOUS cooks. It looks great, but it works hard. Every surface was chosen to be durable and easy to clean.
The thing you can't see is the massive steel beam in the ceiling that let us open up the kitchen and the living room, swipe right for a before photo.
This one hits because it feels like it's always been there, IMO that's the mark of a successful remodel. It's the kitchen this house always wanted.
My favorite details include the incredible laminate on the cabinets- such a nice feel, so durable and easy to clean. An excellent choice for any kitchen, especially white. So much more durable than paint.
The other detail I love are the custom designed integrated drawer pulls, carefully designed to work with elegantly manicured fingernails.
Last but not least, check out that pantry! Super custom, with open out shelving and integrated lighting, with plenty of room for all of the tomatoes and pasta.

From renders to reality, check out how we brought life into the .farmhouse.
We're feeling the fall vibes and getting the ready for winter! On the outside, it's sporting a new roof and windows just in time for the cold weather. The inside got a kitchen and bathroom refresh, with new Oregon oak flooring form our friends at . Let it snow!

We . We've been using it for several years and it's made a huge difference in our ability to help our clients visualize a finished space. We can make changes in real-time during meetings to show different layouts or materials, and we can share a model for them to view on their own. Our clients love being able to walk through their new space on their phone or tablet. We live in the future and I'm all for it. Yay,

This living room is one of our favorites, our update included this new radiused sofa to soften the corners in the traffic area between the entry and the dining room.
The original stone fireplace gives the room some weight and keeps the original flavor of the house.
It was already awesome, we just made it....better.
Three cheers for Friday!
Which furry Fraley friend matches your Friday mood?
Tucked away in Oregon's wine country, Barkheaven is a hidden gem amidst the hills. This is a hardworking house in the land of moss and blackberries, there's always a project no matter the season.
Our journey started with an unassuming split-level farmhouse from the '70s with an unfortunate 90's era addition for good measure.
First, we balanced out the off-kilter window locations on the exterior, replaced all the windows, and gave it a fresh paint job.
Then, we overhauled the interior from top to bottom, no surface was left untouched. The result is a classy and comfortable homestead, able to handle the wear and tear of country living with grace and style.
Trust your designer and let the magic happen!

Back to .farmhouse, let's look at the evolution of some of our favorite spaces.
First up is the hallway connecting the primary suite and home office to the rest of the house, second is the limestone fireplace in the great room with a salvaged wood mantel.
We always loved that hallway on paper, but seeing it come to life is so much better.
The great room is just that, with an open kitchen/dining plan and plenty of space to spread out and lounge.
Stay tuned for more of this amazing custom home!

I recently had a chance to sit down with our good friend and collaborator Otto Bajnoczi to talk about his fascinating background, his approach to building cabinets and fine furniture, and of course, our dogs. Enjoy!
.farmhouse work in progress: This is a big one!
Planning for HVAC was a big challenge. This project is in Central Oregon- cold winters and hot, dry summers.
Vaulted ceilings are beautiful, but they can present some challenges when it's time to plan the heating/cooling systems. We solved the problem by designing a conditioned crawl space to house our equipment and ductwork.
Properly insulating and detailing the crawl space makes it a part of the conditioned building envelope, rather than an uninsulated space below the living area.
This is a sprawling house and we wanted to make sure there weren't any hot or cold spots. On the aesthetic front, how about those views??
is done! This has been a multi-year process, but inspections are complete and the family has moved in. Let's go back to the beginning- when Kristian and Heather asked us to design a home for their family, we were very flattered and very honored. There's nothing we love more than designing a forever home from the ground up. We started with some pencil sketches to get the layout down, then took it to 3D to work out the details. Stay tuned for more progress shots!
"From the beginning, Joel, Michele and Nicole took the time to get to know us and our aspirations for our forever home. We just completed our second “phase” of remodeling which is never an easy process to go through when you have to blow up your home. Fraley & Company makes it as painless as possible with best-in-class design services and a client-first mentality throughout the journey. We highly recommend them and we love our home more than ever!"
Remodeling can be daunting, especially when it feels like you're "blowing up" your home.
We make the process as painless as possible.
At Fraley + Company, we believe that great design starts with a strong relationship between designer and client.
Getting to know you is our top priority. We take the time to understand how you live, what inspires you, and what brings you joy. This personal connection is at the heart of everything we do.
Your vision becomes our passion. The result? Spaces that truly reflect you and make you feel at home.
We're passionate about what we do. Our mission goes beyond simply changing spaces; it's about transforming how you live.
We take pride in making positive changes to your living spaces, creating environments that elevate your lifestyle and bring joy to your everyday.
Throughout the process, we create beautiful spaces and make new friends. It's a collaboration that goes beyond design—it's about building meaningful connections.
Our team at Fraley + Company cares about every detail of your wish list, no matter how unique—like adding a sea monster to the bathroom! 🌊🦑 We guide you through every aspect of the design, even the ones you may not have the words for initially.
Don't just take our word for it: "From his first visit to our home, Joel was tuned in to every detail of our wish list for the space (including my oddball insistence that there be a sea monster somewhere in the bathroom!), and patiently helped us through the parts of the design that we didn't even really have a vocabulary to discuss at the beginning."
At Fraley + Company, we believe the power of good design goes beyond aesthetics.
Our spaces aren't just beautiful to look at, they're also intuitive to use.
We create environments that work effortlessly for you, making your daily life not just fun but also functional.
"Working with Fraley + Company was an absolute joy. They care deeply about their clients, their work, and were amazing partners in helping us create our dream home. We renovated about 4000 sq ft, and added a large covered outdoor area, and they were there every step of the way from concept to completion. Always responsive, always listening, and consistently finding solutions. To do a project this big/complex and leave friends, I think is the ultimate compliment. We can't wait to work together again!"
From concept to completion, we're by your side every step of the way. Whether it's a 4000 sq ft renovation or adding a large covered outdoor area, we're there with you, finding solutions and ensuring a smooth and successful project.
Thank you, Sarah and Sean, for entrusting your dream home to us. It was a pleasure to create a space that reflects your vision and brings joy to your everyday.
We take pride in being kind, caring, and positive, ensuring a collaborative and enjoyable experience every step of the way. Patience is our virtue, and we embrace all your design changes and moments of indecision with a smile.
Don't just trust our words:
"The entire team at Fraley & Co. is so easy to work with. They are kind, caring, positive, and incredibly patient! I had so many design changes and moments of indecision, I’m sure I had their heads spinning! Joel’s knowledge and expertise in every facet of design and building is unsurpassed. He is an expert when it comes to lighting up a space. You cannot find a more creative team."
At Fraley & Co., creativity is at the heart of everything we do. We're a team of visionaries, ready to turn your dreams into reality.
The inspiration? The homeowner's own masterpiece—the fireplace they crafted years ago. It set the tone for the entire project, guiding us towards creating a space that exudes warmth and harmony. 🏡🌲
Weaving custom wood elements into the design, we seamlessly blended the new remodel with the existing house. The result? A cohesive, inviting space that embraces the beauty of its surroundings.
A mood board is like a treasure map. It helps us give our clients options while staying true to their design vision.
Whether you've got a specific vibe or color palette in mind, we've got the tools to help take your space wherever you want to go.
This infamous blue kitchen was originally designed for the previous owners of this house -- they handed over the plans to the new owners and we brought it to life!
It was so much fun to transition this space from the old design to the new owner's home. We love to reimagine spaces and make them truly one-of-a-kind.
We do it all.
We start with your ideas and add our input to make sure every room works and every detail is considered before construction starts. The key to a successful build is acknowledging that some things evolve once the walls start going up -- it's important to leave a little bit of room for reinterpretation as you move through the process.
Throughout the design process, we work with you to make educated decisions based on the cost of specific items in terms of the overall budget. We don't design in a vacuum. We're always thinking about the cost of the build. We take the responsibility as stewards of your financial investment very seriously.
We'd love to help you bring your vision to life.
At Fraley + Company, we are more than just a design firm. We also share the craft and inspire the creation of beautiful living spaces. We transform houses into homes and offices into havens of creativity and functionality. Join us on this exciting journey! 🎨🔨
