If you know someone dealing with a mental health issue, it’s important to approach them with care. Find a quiet, comfortable spot to chat and start the conversation gently, being patient if they’re not ready to talk. Speak calmly, sticking to one topic at a time, and listen attentively, asking simple questions. Be kind and understanding, using ‘I’ instead of ‘you’ statements, and keep the conversation light with easy topics. Share your feelings and offer support, paying attention to their emotions. Respect their experience and offer help if needed, showing you care and providing hope for recovery.

I had the pleasure of being on a podcast recently (thank you for the opportunity 😊 ) and I was asked “what is the number one benefit of ”? My answer was TIME!
It takes time to build a trusting relationship with patients where they know you’re working in their best interest. Where they know you’re available and accessible. Where they can get all their questions answered without being rushed out the door.
On the flip side - trust is not built in 15-20 minute visits every 6 months or once a year - but that’s how our current healthcare system works.
I’ll take 7 days a week and twice on Sunday! ❤️
