In craniosacral therapy, therapists apply gentle pressure to circulate fluids around the brain and spinal cord. Touch is applied to the head, neck, and spine to address headaches, back pain, and neurological complaints.

After an extensive career in human resources, Dee was ready for a change. When Joel became a parent, he needed to find a flexible career to support his growing family. He wanted to find a job where he could work with others, choose his own hours, and expand his earning potential. When he learned about the flexibility and financial opportunities available to massage therapists, he decided to pursue a career in massage therapy. A Poughkeepsie native, Joel enrolled at The Institute for Holistic Health to attend classes close to home. Here, Joel has learned the skills he needs to succeed as a self-employed massage therapist!

It’s ! Meet Leah Stukes, our Pathology 1 & 2 instructor and a new member of The Institute for Holistic Health faculty! Leah started her career in massage therapy to help people with disabilities find relief through bodywork. Today, she enjoys teaching students how to modify their practice to accommodate a wide range of clients, including those with disabilities. Outside of the classroom, Leah enjoys volunteering, traveling, and spending time with loved ones!

Clara started her career as a certified personal trainer. Over time, she gained an interest in using athletic science to support clients outside of the gym.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a form of massage that supports the healthy flow of lymphatic fluids. These fluids, also known as lymphs, assist in immune functioning by filtering out toxins.
Sometimes, these fluids accumulate in lymph nodes and tissues, causing swelling and discomfort. MLD encourages this fluid to drain, reducing swelling and promoting proper lymphatic function. This modality is recommended for immune-compromised clients.

Liam was a lifelong athlete who suffered a serious injury while running. Massage therapy was a critical part of his long-term recovery, and he wanted to help other athletes recover from performance-related injuries.
